About this skill

The Problem

Many workplace communication issues are not caused by missing information, but by unclear risk levels: the same sentence can be acceptable to a direct manager, risky toward a senior leader, or inappropriate in a public meeting. This skill targets concrete situations such as leader criticism, sudden task assignments, vague promises, blame shifting, colleague conflicts, subordinate coaching, government-style workplace etiquette, and crisis moments like apologies, defusing awkwardness, or refusing invitations.

How It Works

It does not simply return a generic polished reply. It conditions the response on context variables:

  • Scenario matching: maps the request to indexed cases S01 through S23, such as accountability, collaboration conflict, or high-pressure social moments.
  • Environment adaptation: distinguishes public-sector/state-owned, big-tech, international/foreign-company, and general workplace styles, then adjusts tone and vocabulary.
  • Bounded clarification: asks at most three rounds of questions, prioritizing work environment, counterpart role, communication channel, and audience visibility.
  • Flexible output: can provide a copy-ready message, template phrasing from templates.md, wrong-versus-right examples, or multiple response options for complex cases.

Boundaries

It is best for day-to-day workplace communication where the goal is to stay professional, avoid overcommitment, and preserve relationships. It does not replace legal, HR, compliance, or formal process judgment. For layoffs, disciplinary action, performance disputes, salary negotiations, or cross-border compliance issues, combine it with written evidence, company policy, and professional advice.

Use Cases

  • Reply to leader criticism with fixes.
  • Decline non-owned work from a colleague.
  • Report results and ask for resources without overpromising.
  • Handle government-style meetings and toasts safely.

Best For

  • PM staff reporting to leaders and asking for resources.
  • SOE admin staff handling meetings, toasts, handoffs.
  • Managers coaching, assigning, and motivating subordinates.
  • Project staff handling blame-shifting and conflicts.
