From Loose Notes to Installable Capabilities

When personal decision habits, project workflows, or methodology from an existing Skill are scattered across notes, documents, and repos, copying them often produces fragmented context rather than reusable capability. This skill distills three kinds of material—persona signals, knowledge bases, and existing Skill content—into a structured, installable SKILL.md, preserving judgment patterns, process steps, and explicit boundaries.

Three Distillation Tracks

• Persona distillation: Extracts mental models, decision heuristics, expression DNA, anti-patterns, and honesty boundaries from private notes, public writing, or mixed sources; useful for style imitation, advisory reasoning, and decision references.
• Knowledge distillation: Turns complete knowledge bases, folders, single documents, or completed task workflows into core frameworks, process steps, checklists, decision rules, and output templates.
• Skill distillation: Reads an existing Skill’s SKILL.md, references/, scripts/, and examples, then detects redundancy, contradictions, and missing resources before producing an optimized refactor, cross-domain adaptation, or meta-methodology framework.

How It Works

The workflow starts with routing, deciding whether the target is a person, a knowledge base, or a Skill so style imitation is not mistaken for generic retrieval. It then moves through clarification, pre-scanning, and multi-source collection. Persona work separates knowledge-base, web, and hybrid modes and requires source credibility labels. After a confirmation checkpoint on core concepts, steps, rules, and boundaries, it refines the framework and builds the Skill. Final validation uses known scenarios, edge cases, and style or usability tests to avoid mere document collage.

Limits

It is suited to productizing methodology, not replacing professional judgment: issuing legal opinions, medical diagnoses, or investment advice is not a valid output; however, review checklists and operational workflows may be distilled if they include mandatory human-handoff rules. Raw price tables, live data, and one-off project documents are better kept as knowledge bases than forced into a Skill.
