About this skill

Problem it addresses

Equity research often breaks down into isolated metrics: checking P/E without cash flow, revenue growth without debt, or moat without a valuation anchor. This skill organizes public-company fundamental analysis into a reusable workflow for reviewing earnings reports, comparing peers, and structuring buy/watch/avoid views. It is not a data terminal and does not provide personalized investment advice; instead, it emphasizes evidence-based judgment.

How it works

The default workflow moves through several layers:
- Company snapshot: business model, revenue drivers, customer concentration, industry position, and competitive set.
- Financial review: revenue quality, gross/operating/net margin trends, free cash flow, debt, liquidity, dilution, and working capital.
- Business quality: moat, pricing power, recurring revenue, cyclicality, operating leverage, and management capital allocation.
- Valuation: P/E, EV/EBITDA, EV/Sales, Price/FCF, and DCF where useful, compared against own history, peers, growth, margins, and risk.
- Risks and conclusion: competitive pressure, regulatory issues, refinancing, dilution, accounting quality, and macro sensitivity, followed by bull/base/bear cases and monitoring metrics.
When a rating is requested, it uses a 0-5 scoring framework across business quality, growth, profitability, cash flow, balance sheet, management, valuation, and risk, and explains the judgment behind each score.

Limits and caveats

The skill separates facts, assumptions, and opinions, and prefers primary sources such as 10-K, 10-Q, annual reports, earnings releases, and official guidance. Missing or stale data should be stated clearly, and a single metric should not be treated as a buy or sell signal. The output is a research-note structure, not personalized financial advice or performance prediction.

Use Cases

  • After reading a quarterly 10-Q, summarize revenue, margins, free cash flow, and debt changes into a one-page fundamental note.
  • Compare moats, recurring revenue, and valuation multiples across three peers to build a trackable watchlist.
  • Before forming an investment view, separate facts, assumptions, and opinions, then list bull, base, and bear cases with key metrics.
  • Screen for customer concentration, dilution, debt refinancing, and accounting quality flags that could change the conclusion.

Best For

  • Equity analysts who need to turn earnings reports and valuation logic into structured research notes.
  • Portfolio investors tracking company quality, cash flow, and risk signals instead of relying on one multiple.
  • Students or newcomers learning fundamental analysis with a consistent workflow from business model to valuation.
  • Strategy consultants comparing peer moats, profitability, and valuation differences across an industry.
