About this skill
Problems It Addresses
In corporate accounting, the hard part is not a single journal entry but the consistency between daily bookkeeping, period-end close, statement tie-outs, consolidation eliminations, accounting standard changes, and expense review. Ambiguous account mapping, unbalanced debits and credits, unmatched internal balances, missing unrealized profit eliminations, and incomplete cash statement support often surface only after closing.
How It Works
The skill organizes accounting work into six workflows:
- Daily accounting: match accounts to
CASconventions, verify debit and credit balance, review vouchers, and post to ledgers. It rejects incomplete entries or ambiguous account mappings instead of forcing a posting. - Period-end close: follow a closing calendar from
T-5toT+1, covering receivables and payables, depreciation, revenue cutoff, foreign currency translation, and profit transfer. Checkpoints such asCP1andCP2verify internal balances, accrual basis, and supporting evidence. - Standalone statements: generate the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and notes from the trial balance, with emphasis on tie-outs between net income, retained earnings, cash changes, and other comprehensive income.
- Consolidated statements: confirm consolidation scope first, then eliminate internal investments, receivables and payables, internal transactions, and cash flows, with attention to control, noncontrolling interests, and unrealized profit.
- Standard changes: produce difference analysis, transition plans, account mapping, and retrospective adjustments, with fallback to prospective application or escalation when data is unavailable or impact is material.
- Expense review: run a six-stage review covering completeness, compliance, logic, cross-document consistency, risk patterns, and decision output, returning pass, reject, or manual review.
Boundaries
It fits accounting, financial analysis, and internal audit collaboration, but it does not replace audit opinions, tax determinations, or management decisions. When standards are unclear, functional currency is disputed, prior-period data is unavailable, or consolidation scope is questionable, the skill flags items as “to be confirmed” and requires human judgment.
Use Cases
- Before month-end close, verify account balances, internal balances, and accrual basis, then prepare trial balance and close checks.
- Prepare balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement from the trial balance, then validate statement tie-outs.
- During consolidation, confirm subsidiary scope and draft eliminations for internal investments, receivables, payables, and transactions.
- Review expense vouchers for invoice, contract, description, and amount consistency, then flag abnormal reimbursement risks.
Best For
- Corporate accountants who need journal entries, debit-credit balance, ledger posting, and period-end accruals.
- Financial analysts who need to prepare standalone statements and trace statement tie-out differences.
- Group finance staff who need to determine consolidation scope, noncontrolling interests, and unrealized profit.
- Expense reviewers or internal control staff who need to check voucher completeness, three-way matching, and risk patterns.
