DSH's web_search channel defaults to a third-party search API, so every query you type travels through an external service. If you prefer to keep that traffic inside your own network boundary - for instance, behind a SearXNG instance running on a 1 GB VPS - this plugin is the bridge.

The settings card covers the full configuration surface: instance URL, BasicAuth, search categories, language, safe-search level, and an outbound proxy (http / https / socks5h) that toggles on and off without a restart. A built-in connection probe fires a real search and reports latency, result count, and the exact reason for failure (JSON endpoint not enabled, rate-limited, timeout). No self-hosted instance? The community picker pulls from the searx.space pool, auto-measures candidates, and surfaces the ten most responsive ones - refreshable at any time through the current proxy.

It suits developers who want search-data sovereignty, ops folk comfortable running SearXNG on a small VPS, and DSH users in regions where outbound search needs a proxy. The only prerequisites are the DSH web profile and Node 20 or above.
