Preface¶
When having long conversations, writing prompts, or following tasks in DeepSeek Harness (DSH), sticky notes, long-form notes, calendar todos, and frequently used prompts are often scattered across system notepads, browser tabs, or other tools. Switching windows is costly, and the data may not reside in the same environment as the conversation context. The community plugin Paper Island (npm package name dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule) brings sticky notes, paper-page notes, calendar todos, drawing canvas, and a prompt library into the DSH sidebar and bottom app dock. It features a paper-style interface, with workspace data stored locally in the DSH data directory—no network sync required. Maintainer: HaoyanZhang123. Current version: 0.3.0, developed against DSH 0.2.1-rc.2, MIT licensed. It is categorized as a client-side plugin in community directories such as SkillHub.
What Is This¶
Paper Island is a client-side DSH plugin: the Host side reads and writes the workspace JSON via /api/control-your-schedule/workspace, and the Client side provides an entry point in the sidebar. The main UI mounts the assets/paper-os.html build artifact as a same-origin iframe. The plugin’s English display name in the list is “Sticky”. After installation, a “Sticky Notes” entry appears in the sidebar under “Plugins / Automation Tasks”. The interface is in Chinese. It supports three theme modes: follow DSH light/dark, or fixed light/dark. It only reads the host theme signal and does not write to the host DOM.
Core Features¶
Sticky Notes and Trash¶
Quick short-note jotting with auto-save. The entire note can be dragged (except for the body text, scrollbar, color block, and delete button areas). The last-operated note is brought to the top. The body defaults to the built-in Xiawu Wenkai handwriting font, which can be changed to the system Xingkai or paper Song style in settings. Deleted notes go into the trash bin at the top of the sticky-note window, retained for 7 days for recovery. Empty notes are discarded directly with no undo toast.
Paper Page Notes¶
Long-form writing: the left-side list supports search and switching, with auto-save. Both the new paper-page title and body use placeholders, so unfilled pages do not leave “Untitled Paper Page” placeholder rows.
Calendar and Todo¶
Each todo has four urgency levels (Important & Urgent / Important but Not Urgent / Urgent but Not Important / Neither Important nor Urgent). Click the colored dot on the right side of the todo row to switch levels; click the capsule to toggle between “Today Only” and “Daily”. Within calendar cells: unfinished-item dots appear at the top and are colored by level; after completion, the dot sinks to the bottom, turns gray, and stays fixed. Persistent “Daily” todos generate a new instance for each day starting from the anchor date; after checking in for the day, a new unfinished instance automatically appears the next day. The calendar only retains gray dots for days that have been checked in. When all items for the day are done, a “This matter is considered finished” message may appear; after collapsing it, no new instances will be generated, and it can be restored to show “Checked in for N days”.
Prompt Library and Conversation Integration¶
The 5th app in the dock manages prompts: search in the left list, with pinned items prioritized. The right pane edits the title and multi-line body, with auto-save (body limit: 20,000 characters, up to 300 entries). Each conversation input box has a “Prompts” button on the left side of the toolbar row. Clicking it opens a list; use arrow keys to select, Enter to insert, Esc to close. It only writes into the draft: if the draft is empty, the entire text is inserted; if non-empty, it is inserted at the cursor position (single-step undo supported). If the prompt is being sent, a message will suggest trying again later. It does not write system prompts and does not auto-send. “Manage in Sticky Notes ↗” switches to Paper Island and opens the prompt window.
Drawing Canvas and Other Interactions¶
The drawing canvas supports handwriting/drawing, undo, eraser, and PNG export. The canvas book can be paginated or deleted as a whole. Today’s paper note is pinned in the right sidebar. The bottom dock is the sole entry point for each app; the house button on the far right can collapse all windows at once. Clicking empty desktop space outside a window also collapses it (without destroying it; clicking the icon restores it). Windows have no traditional minimize/maximize/close buttons; drag the title bar to move, drag the bottom-right corner to resize. Close the current window with Esc, Ctrl/Cmd + Alt + W, or the command palette command “Close Current Window”. A 6-step onboarding tour appears on first open; it can be replayed via “Settings → Shortcuts → Onboarding Tour”. Settings → Data & Backup allows exporting/importing the full workspace JSON. The workspace includes version migration (v1 → v2 → v3), and the Host backs up the old version before writing to disk. When switching to other DSH interfaces and returning, the window and each app’s browsing state are restored.
Installation and Activation¶
In DSH, select Plugins → Add plugin, and fill in according to one of the following methods (do not construct CLI commands from the repository name yourself).
npm (recommended):
dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule
Pin a specific version:
dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule@0.3.0
GitHub (alternative):
https://github.com/HaoyanZhang123/dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule
Local development (must provide the absolute path of the repository directory; relative paths will be rejected):
<repo-path>/dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule
If the sidebar does not show “Sticky Notes” after installation, refresh the page. Replacing an already-installed package usually requires restarting DSH. Installed plugins do not support automatic updates; upgrading requires uninstalling and reinstalling the new version. npm package: https://www.npmjs.com/package/dsh-plugin-control-your-schedule.
Typical Usage¶
| What You Want to Do | How |
|---|---|
| Open an app | Click the corresponding icon in the bottom dock |
| Collapse / restore a window | Click the dock icon again |
| Collapse all windows at once | Click the house button, or click empty desktop space outside a window |
| Close the current window | Esc / Ctrl/Cmd + Alt + W / command palette “Close Current Window” |
| Rewatch the onboarding tour | Settings → Shortcuts → Onboarding Tour → “Replay” |
| Back up data | Settings → Data & Backup → “Export Workspace” |
Main storage path (subject to DSH_HOME; if not set, the Windows default is C:\Users\<you>\.dsh\control-your-schedule\workspace.json):
$DSH_HOME/control-your-schedule/workspace.json
Browser IndexedDB / localStorage serves as a quick-start fallback. When switching devices, export the JSON in settings and import it on the new device.
Use Cases and Notes¶
Suitable for users who want to manage quick notes, long-form writing, todos, hand-drawn sketches, and reusable prompts within the same DSH window, and who prefer local disk storage. The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installation, it is recommended to review the GitHub repository source code and MIT license yourself.
Compatibility: The README states that installation, sidebar, panels, refresh, and host disk persistence have been tested on Windows 11 + DSH 0.2.1-rc.2. CI runs build and static gates on Windows / macOS / Ubuntu, but has not been fully tested on real DSH instances on macOS / Linux. package.json requires Node >=22 and depends on peer dependencies such as @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-layout, dsh-client-ui-sidebar, dsh-client-ui-conversation (>=0.2.0-0). Community directories (such as SkillHub) have no official affiliation with DeepSeek / 幻方; this is a third-party entry in the “everything is a plugin” ecosystem.
