Introduction¶
The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin is maintained by NEVSTOP-LAB. It loads the workspace’s built-in VSCode/Copilot AI configuration into DSH sessions, allowing the same .github files to take effect in both VSCode and DSH. By default, it includes the current user’s ~/.copilot, and it can also include several configuration directories outside the workspace, allowing one shared set of rules to feed all repositories.
Core Features¶
The plugin injects context or registers skills by reading specific files from the configuration directories:
- Persistent injection: reads
.github/copilot-instructions.mdand injects it persistently as repository-level instructions. - Conditional injection: reads
.github/instructions/**/*.instructions.md. If there is noapplyTofront-matter metadata, it is injected persistently; if present, it is injected only after the current session interacts with matching files. TheapplyTosyntax is consistent with VSCode. - Skill registration: reads
.github/skills/<name>/SKILL.mdand registers it as a DSH skill.
Configuration and Paths¶
The plugin only reads configuration and does not write workspace files; the only write path is the GUI page for changing “additional configuration directories”, which writes to DSH’s own profile configuration (~/.dsh/profiles/<profile>/cordis.patch.yml).
Changing Paths in the Plugin Page¶
Find the item titled “Import Copilot files” under Settings -> Plugins.
- paths: configuration directories outside the workspace, default is
['~/.copilot']. Paths can be absolute, relative to the session cwd, or start with~to denote the user home directory. Delete the line and save to disable scanning of external directories. - maxBytes: byte budget per injection (default 65536); content is truncated when exceeded.
- scanSubdirectories: controls the scan depth of the
.githubfolder under the cwd (default 1).
Installation and Activation¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) must be installed.
- Install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add github:NEVSTOP-LAB/dsh-import-copilot-files
- Verify the version requirement: DSH >= 0.1.7 is required.
- Restart DSH: the profile patch layer does not hot-reload, so DSH must be restarted after installation for the changes to take effect.
Notes¶
- No hot reload: DSH must be restarted after installing the plugin. Changes to workspace files or the
pathsconfiguration take effect immediately, but modifying the plugin’s own source code requires another restart. - Workspace read-only: the plugin only reads workspace files.
- Compatibility: it is no longer compatible with DSH 0.1.5 / 0.1.6.
Conclusion¶
This plugin is released under the MIT License.
