In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) system, plugins are the core units for extending core capabilities. Producing a Ren’Py galgame involves tight coordination among a large number of scripts, resources, and configuration files. Traditional development approaches suffer from fragmentation in file management, version synchronization, and workflow automation. GALFree aims to bring the entire Ren’Py production pipeline into the DSH workbench through a plugin-based approach, achieving automation from project initiation to final delivery.
Plugin Positioning¶
GALFree is a DSH plugin maintained by netori. Its core positioning is a full-process automation workbench for Ren’Py galgames. It adopts the “Zero-Seam Stage Contract” design, decoupling the project service (backend logic) from the workbench (frontend panel) while maintaining a consistent data state, and provides a complete solution from asset management to playtesting.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:
- Workbench Panel: provides interface components such as the stage board (Scene × Asset Slot × Stamp), file tree filtering, content preview, snapshot history/diff/rollback, project switching, and pinned-version SDK cards.
- Project Service: provides backend services such as the write gateway, Git snapshots, dialect parsing, progress inference, review stamps, pinned-version SDK validation, and playtest control.
- T8–T15 features: cover the character registry, asset ledger, settings collection, per-scene generation, dialogue editing, branch diagram, full-line assembly playtesting, image channel/task queue, and image output operations.
- T16–T32 features: cover later-stage features such as reference chains, audio wiring, sound anchors, cover assets, UI reskinning, and snapshot rollback.
- Architecture characteristics: implements the Zero-Seam Stage Contract and supports deep integration between SDK card provisioning and project service logic.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing the prebuilt package is recommended. The plugin requires a host environment version of DSH 0.1.7 or higher.
dsh plugin --profile web add "https://github.com/netori/galfree/releases/download/v0.1.2/dsh-galfree-0.1.2.tgz"
After installation, a “GALFree Workbench” entry will appear in the sidebar.
Typical Usage¶
During development, the following commands can be used for routine engineering operations (corresponding to the plugin’s internal testing and build processes):
npm run typecheck
npm test
npm run build
npm run test:slow
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Applicable scenarios: DSH users who need to develop Ren’Py galgames, and developers who want to use a workbench panel to uniformly manage project files, configurations, and workflows.
- Version compatibility:
- Plugin 0.1.2 and later require host version ≥ DSH 0.1.7.
- Plugin 0.1.1 and earlier versions cannot be installed on DSH 0.1.7 (because a settings model change causes
applyto throw an error).
- Source installation: when installing from repository source code,
allowBuildsmust be configured inpnpm-workspace.yaml, otherwise build scripts will be blocked. - Preset mechanism: starting from 0.1.7, the preset mechanism has changed. Files no longer need to be copied manually; instead, the plugin bundle includes the required declaration line.
- License: the plugin license field is not explicitly shown in the
package.jsonexcerpt.
Summary¶
GALFree provides DSH users with a complete Ren’Py development workbench. Through automated services and panel interactions, it reduces the tedious file and workflow management costs involved in galgame development.
