Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) out-of-the-box thinking chain has display detail differences compared with the official client: system prompts are usually English, causing the thinking process to often appear in English when asking in Chinese; the default preview is a single-line summary, and the thinking process is collapsed, requiring manual expansion to view the full reasoning. dsh-thinking-panel aims to fix these issues through a plugin-based approach, aligning DSH’s thinking chain display with the DeepSeek official app.

Plugin Overview

dsh-thinking-panel is a fun UI-skin plugin maintained by Fo-Rimuru (MIT license). It replicates the official rendering logic and styles to change how the thinking chain is displayed, supporting multi-line scrolling preview, language following, and a closer-to-official interaction experience.

Core Features

This plugin provides the following main features:

  1. Thinking follows language: It injects language rules to attempt to make the model’s thinking process follow the user’s input language (Chinese questions trigger Chinese thinking).
  2. Multi-line scrolling preview: During thinking, it displays a scrolling preview of 5 lines of reasoning by default instead of a single-line summary.
  3. Expand to view full reasoning: Click the title line to expand and view the complete reasoning process.
  4. UI detail replication: Includes a left vertical line, a brand-colored icon, and displays “Deep thinking” and “Thought (took X seconds)” states.
  5. Auto-expand: Automatically expands process groups by default to avoid the out-of-the-box behavior where the thinking chain is collapsed inside the group.
  6. Self-update and rollback: Supports one-click updates or rollback to the previous version from the settings page.

Installation and Configuration

Requirements

  • DSH version must be >= 0.2.0-rc.1
  • DSH must be restarted after installation for the plugin to take effect

Installation Command

Use the official installation command to add the plugin:

& $dsh plugin --profile desktop add 'github:Fo-Rimuru/dsh-thinking-panel'

Enabling and Configuration

After installation, go to Settings → Plugins → Deep Thinking Panel to manage it. By default, “Auto-expand process group” and “Think in the query language” are enabled.

In Settings → General, you can find the Deep Thinking Panel toggle and adjust “Thinking preview lines” (1–20, default 5).

Advanced users can modify cordis.patch.yml to force a specific thinking mode:

  • auto: Follow the user’s language (default)
  • zh: Force Chinese thinking
  • en: Force English thinking
  • off: Do not inject language rules (styles only)

Notes and Limitations

Keep the following facts in mind when using it:

  1. Effectiveness of language following: Language following is probabilistic and is largely ineffective in heavy agent sessions (sessions filled with large amounts of English tool output). This is an inherent ceiling determined by the model’s context, not a plugin implementation issue.
  2. Time statistics: “Thought (took X seconds)” only accounts for time within the current page session; historical steps are not displayed.
  3. Expanded height limit: The expanded height limit is an unofficial, plugin-added compromise made for usability.
  4. Preview direction: The preview follow direction is opposite to the official one; this plugin follows the latest content by default (tail follow).
  5. Missing animation: The official Lottie thinking-ring animation is not implemented; only static icons are used.
  6. Hot reload limitations: Changes to index.js (Host half) are not hot-reloaded and require restarting DSH; client.js (Client half) supports hot reload.

Conclusion

dsh-thinking-panel replicates the official styles and interaction logic to resolve display detail differences in DSH’s thinking chain. If you want an experience closer to the official client when using DSH, you can install and enable the plugin using the command above.
