The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) sidebar is displayed by workspace by default. When handling multiple projects and a large number of sessions, this view can easily become cluttered. The Metafolder plugin provides a metafolder mechanism that lets you visually categorize and organize workspaces and sessions at the sidebar layer, without modifying the underlying file paths.
Plugin Overview¶
- Plugin name:
manoloremiddi/dsh-metafolder-plugin - Maintainer: ManoloRemiddi
- License: MIT
- Core purpose: Provides colorful grouping views for workspaces and sessions in the DeepSeek Harness sidebar.
Core Features¶
The plugin adds a metafolder layer on top of existing workspace rows and provides the following capabilities:
- Metafolders and counts: Uses named, collapsible groups to nest actual workspace folders and sessions, and displays the number of contained sessions next to the folder.
- Drag-and-drop actions: Drag a workspace or session row into a metafolder to archive it; drag it onto the list background to unarchive it.
- Local persistence: Grouping and membership relationships are stored in the browser’s
localStorage, so they remain after page refresh (limited to the current browser only). - Row menu: Provides rich context actions, including
→ <meta folder>to archive,Remove from meta folderto unarchive, as well as rename, move up/down, and delete workspace. - Custom colors: When creating a folder, you can choose an eight-color palette, a theme color, or a custom color. The selected color is applied to the folder icon, label, and drop-target border.
- View options: Supports “Workspace” grouping or a “Flat” view, and supports sorting by “Manual” or “Last Updated.”
- Workspace and session management: Workspaces can be added in both the wide sidebar and the collapsed sidebar; supports search, rename, derive, and archive by session or workspace.
Installation and Enabling¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install the specified version using the web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/ManoloRemiddi/DSH-Metafolder-Plugin/releases/download/v1.2.1/dsh-metafolder-plugin-1.2.1.tgz
After installation, restart the DSH process and refresh the Web page to apply the changes.
Typical Usage¶
- Project organization: Drag all “Resonant OS”-related projects and workspace sessions into a metafolder named “Resonant OS.”
- Color coding: Assign different colors to different types of folders (such as development, testing, and documentation) for quick visual distinction.
- Quick archiving: Use the
→ <meta folder>action in the row menu to quickly move inactive sessions into the corresponding group.
Use Cases and Considerations¶
This plugin is suitable for users who need to manage a large number of workspaces and sessions and want custom organization of the sidebar view.
Important limitations:
* No cross-device synchronization: The current implementation relies on local browser storage and does not support cross-device synchronization or persisted host-service storage.
* Physical moves are limited: Physical path moves for workspaces are protected. The plugin does not directly modify the file system or path registry until DSH provides an API for path migration.
* Permissions remain bound: AI permissions always remain bound to the actual folder, because the plugin is only a rendering layer and does not change the underlying data structures.
Prerequisites:
* DeepSeek Harness version >= 0.1.5-rc.1.
* It must be installed under the web profile.
Summary¶
The Metafolder plugin adds a layer of logical organization to the DSH sidebar. Through metafolders and drag-and-drop capabilities, it greatly improves the visual experience of multi-project management without touching the underlying file system.
