When developing agents in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) desktop client, skill libraries are often scattered as local files, making them hard to browse and search quickly, and making it difficult to track whether a skill invocation was effective. The dsh-skill-browser plugin turns the local skill library into a visual floating-orb panel, offering two-level categorization, real-time search, and automatic failure-ledger registration.
Plugin Introduction¶
dsh-skill-browser is a DSH client plugin maintained by loyalchiiina and is licensed under MIT. The core problem it solves is: how to efficiently browse a local skill library through a unified UI entry point and automatically record the execution results of skill invocations. The plugin does not include preset paths, ensuring that it displays the actual content of the user’s local skill library.
Core Features¶
1. Floating orb
Fixed to a screen corner; click to open/close the panel; can be dragged to a new position (position memory); Alt+click to collapse it into a small dot.
2. Configurable skill-library location
On first use, select the skill-library folder in the panel’s ⚙ Settings (a system directory picker opens) or manually paste a path; if not configured, it automatically detects the official default root ~/.dsh/skills. The plugin contains no preset paths.
3. Two-level categorization
Automatically categorizes by skill directory name patterns (16 top-level categories and Fluent/DSH domain subcategories).
4. Chinese summaries and search
Skill summaries are taken directly from each skill’s SKILL.md frontmatter description. Supports real-time filtering by skill name / Chinese summary / original description.
5. Details view
Click a card to view the full SKILL.md content, with one-click copy.
6. Failure ledger
Listens to DSH’s official tools/result events and automatically records each skill tool invocation result (success as “effective ✅”, load failure as “not effective ❌” with the error message). Manual ledger entries and automatic registrations are shown separately, and the plugin never modifies the manually maintained section.
7. Intelligent ledger discovery
On initialization, it searches the entire library for ledger files whose file names contain keywords such as “失效台账”, “失败台账”, or “生效-失效”; it prefers the conventional path skill-master/references/. If one is found, it reuses it; otherwise, it creates a default ledger.
Install and Enable¶
-
Copy this directory completely to
~/.dsh/profiles/desktop/node_modules/dsh-skill-browser(use a real directory, not a junction/link). -
Add
"dsh-skill-browser"to thedsh.profile.bundlesarray in~/.dsh/profiles/desktop/package.json(do not add it todependencies; this plugin has zero npm dependencies). -
Restart DSH; the 🧩 floating orb appears in the bottom-right corner; open ⚙ Settings and choose your skill-library folder.
Typical Usage¶
- Browse skills: Click the floating orb to open the panel and browse the skill library.
- Configure path: Choose your skill-library folder in the panel’s ⚙ Settings.
- Report failures: Use trigger phrases such as “trigger failure, register” or “register failure: skill name reason” in the conversation to report a failure.
- Control visibility: Control the floating orb’s show/hide state in the “Floating Orb Navigation” section of the DSH Settings page.
- Reset position: Click the floating orb’s One-click Restore Default Position button to reset (clear position memory/collapsed state).
Notes¶
- Installation errors within 24 hours of release? This is caused by a supply-chain security policy (minimumReleaseAge), not a plugin issue; wait a day before installing.
- Path configuration: The plugin contains no preset paths.
- Ledger independence: Manual ledger entries and automatic registrations are shown separately, and the plugin never modifies manual ledger entries.
- Data accuracy: The plugin does not embed any skill-name list/dictionary, ensuring that what you see accurately reflects your own skill library.
Suitable Scenarios¶
Suitable for developers who need to centrally manage a local skill library in the DSH desktop client and want to automatically track skill effectiveness states.
