Introduction

The plugin-based architecture of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows core functionality to be enhanced through extensions. When a large number of agent presets have accumulated locally, searching for and managing them directly in the DSH interface can become inefficient. dsh-preset-library aims to solve this problem. It provides a metadata management solution that allows organizing the preset collection through tags, groups, and status filters without modifying the underlying preset code.

Plugin Overview

dsh-preset-library is an open-source community plugin maintained by developer LiweiDonVee and licensed under the MIT license. It provides a compact, searchable, tag-based preset management approach, supporting grid, list, and grouped views, and allows batch operations on preset metadata.

Core Features

The plugin primarily provides the following capabilities:

  1. Views and Filtering: Supports compact grid, list, and grouped views, and provides status filtering.
  2. Batch Operations: Supports applying tags to presets in bulk.
  3. Hierarchy: Supports one level of parent-child preset relationships.
  4. Metadata Management: Versioned metadata, atomic saving, and built-in revision conflict checking.
  5. Multilingual Support: The interface supports English and Chinese.

Installation and Enablement

Before installation, ensure the environment meets the following requirements: Node.js 24, npm, and an available DSH 0.1.7-rc.2 Web profile.

  1. Clone the repository:
    git clone https://github.com/LiweiDonVee/dsh-preset-library.git
    cd dsh-preset-library
  1. Install dependencies and run checks:
    npm ci
    npm run check
  1. Add the plugin:
npx --yes @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.7-rc.2 plugin --profile web add .
  1. Start the Web Profile:
    npx --yes @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.7-rc.2 web

After installation is complete, restart DSH. After logging in, open Preset Library in the settings menu.

File Locations and Usage

The plugin’s metadata file is located at the default $DSH_HOME/preset-library.json (i.e., ~/.dsh/preset-library.json).

  • File Management: If the package manager installs it as a local link, keep the repository clone in place.
  • Backup: It is recommended to back up this JSON file before making bulk changes.

Limitations and Notes

  1. Preset Declarations Are Read-Only: In this plugin, preset declarations are treated as read-only.
  2. API Limitations: The metadata API only accepts loopback requests, even if the host itself is remotely exposed.
  3. Relationship Depth: Currently, only one level of parent-child relationships is supported.
  4. Dependency Contract: This is a preview plugin that depends on the evolving DSH Remote/slot contract.
  5. Uninstall Residue: Uninstalling the plugin does not automatically remove saved tag metadata.
  6. Community Nature: This is an original community implementation and has no official affiliation with DeepSeek AI.

Summary

dsh-preset-library provides DeepSeek Harness users with a practical tool for managing preset metadata. Through versioning and conflict-checking mechanisms, it helps maintain the order and consistency of the preset library. For users who need to manage a large number of presets, this is a useful helper plugin worth trying.
