Introduction¶
In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem, enabling model agents to access external data directly is a common requirement. For blockchain application developers, frequently querying on-chain state, contract information, or transaction details is essential. The xby-blockchain-data-service plugin encapsulates data query interfaces for EVM chains, allowing developers to obtain on-chain data through DSH’s tool-calling mechanism without directly handling low-level RPC requests.
Plugin Overview¶
The plugin is maintained by xby-skill and belongs to the online tools category. It is essentially a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides read-only blockchain services for the Vitruveo network. The plugin is licensed under the MIT License and is primarily intended for developers who need to integrate blockchain querying capabilities into local development and debugging environments.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following core capabilities:
- Key Management:
set_xby_apikey— set the API key in the chat. This setting is automatically persisted and remains valid after restarts. - Chain and Block Information:
get_chain_info— retrieve basic information about the EVM network.get_supported_networks— retrieve a list of supported EVM networks.get_latest_block— retrieve the latest block number.get_block_by_number— retrieve block details by block number.
- Account and Token Queries:
get_balance— query the native token balance (such as ETH or MATIC).get_erc20_balance/get_token_balance— query an ERC20 token balance.get_token_info— retrieve token metadata (name, symbol, precision, total supply, and so on).
- Contract Interaction:
read_contract— call read-only functions of a contract (view/pure) without consuming Gas.is_contract— determine whether an address is a contract address or an external account (EOA).
- Transaction-Related:
get_transaction— retrieve transaction details (sender, recipient, value, data, and so on).get_transaction_receipt— retrieve the transaction receipt.estimate_gas— estimate the Gas required for a transaction.
- NFTs and Multi-Token Standards:
get_nft_info— retrieve ERC721 NFT details.check_nft_ownership— check whether an address owns a specific NFT.get_nft_balance— retrieve the total number of NFTs an address holds in a specific collection.get_erc1155_token_uri— retrieve the metadata URI of an ERC1155 standard token.get_erc1155_balance— retrieve the number of a specific ERC1155 token ID held by an address.
Installation and Configuration¶
Before use, prepare an API key. Register on the Xiao Benyang official website and obtain a key.
Run the following command in your terminal to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:xby_skill/xby-blockchain-data-service
After installation, pass the key using the set_xby_apikey command in a DSH conversation, and the plugin will be ready to work.
Typical Usage¶
After installing and configuring the API key, you can proceed with the following steps:
- Set Up the Environment: enter the key-setting instruction in the conversation to ensure subsequent requests are authorized to access the service.
- Query Network Information: call
get_supported_networksto confirm the currently connected chain, or useget_chain_infoto retrieve network parameters. - Query Balances: use
get_balanceto query an account’s native token balance, or useget_token_balanceto query a specific ERC20 token balance. - Read Contracts: if you need to retrieve data stored in a contract, use the
read_contractfunction and specify the contract address and method name. - Query NFTs: use
get_nft_infoorcheck_nft_ownershipto quickly analyze NFT assets.
Notes¶
- API Dependency: the plugin depends on the API service provided by the Xiao Benyang official website, and the key must be obtained first.
- Local Debugging: according to the plugin description, it is currently intended only for local development and debugging.
- Permissions and Security: as a local debugging tool, please ensure it is used in a controlled environment and that the API key is kept securely.
Conclusion¶
xby-blockchain-data-service provides DSH users with a standardized entry point for blockchain data queries. By encapsulating complex RPC operations as tool functions, it lowers the barrier to integrating blockchain data into agent development.
