Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, and capability extensions are implemented through plugins. In a Windows environment, managing C drive space is a common pain point. Traditional disk-cleaning tools often can only perform a single action, “delete cache,” and lack targeted solutions for large pieces of software that have long been abandoned, data placed on the wrong drive (such as Docker WSL), and software configurations that need to be migrated by changing their configured redirection targets.

dsh-disk-manager is a DSH Web UI plugin designed to scan the entire C drive, categorize files and directories, and provide differentiated action suggestions for different categories (cache deletion, guided redirection, junction relocation, deprecation alerts, reminder only). It also establishes safety boundaries for configuration and memory-related data.

Plugin Overview

This plugin is maintained by wangzhanchao883 and belongs to the “Network Tools” category. It does not depend on a complex build process and runs directly in the DSH Web interface. Its core logic includes scanning the entire C drive (excluding Windows system directories), classifying items based on static rules and LLM fallback, and preventing false positives for commonly used software through process snapshots.

Core Features

The plugin divides scan results into six category models, each with a corresponding handling strategy:

  • Class A: Worry-Free Cache (Cache/GPUCache/Temp, etc.): regenerable resources; can be deleted or relocated using junctions.
  • Class B: Officially Relocatable (Docker/npm/pip/browser profiles): supports guided relocation to another drive.
  • Class C: Junction-Movable (e.g., Jianying, Notion, and other pure caches): supports migration through junction commands.
  • Class D: Cold/Abandoned Software (large in size and unused for more than N days): only informs the user; no deletion is performed.
  • Class E: Configuration/Memory Red Line (includes config/storage/indexeddb/memory/database/.openviking/.qclaw): display only; never automatically executed.
  • Class P: Personal Files (Downloads/Documents/Desktop): only alerts for large files; never automatically deleted or acted upon.

Safety and fallback mechanisms:
* LLM fallback: unmatched unknown directories are evaluated using DSH’s built-in LLM (inference is disabled by default, and models are routed according to project rules).
* False-positive prevention via process snapshots: the cold/abandoned detection logic has been revised. It snapshots currently running processes and maintains a whitelist for common components such as Docker/WSL, avoiding cases where commonly used software is incorrectly judged as abandoned because the installation directory mtime is not updated.
* Dry-run and Undo: a preview is provided before execution, and an undo log can be generated for rollback.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin from the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-disk-manager

After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness. A tab named “C Drive Space Planning and Organization Master” appears on the settings page; in the chat window, you can run the /disk_scan slash command directly or invoke the disk_scan tool.

On first use, select the target drive on the settings page or in the tool. The configuration is written to ~/.dsh-disk-manager/config.json.

Typical Usage

  1. Scan: Click “Start C Drive Scan” on the settings page, or run /disk_scan in the chat. The plugin scans AppData, user areas, and Program Files, excluding Windows directories.
  2. View results: After scanning completes, the report is rendered directly on the page. You can see the specific files and directories under each category (A–P).
  3. Preview and execute: Select the entries to be processed, use disk_preview to view the operations that will be performed (Dry-run), and after confirming there are no issues, use disk_execute to execute them.
  4. Undo: If an operation is performed by mistake, use disk_undo to view and execute the rollback log.

Important Notes

  • Environment dependencies: Requires a Windows system (depending on PowerShell and native junction capabilities), Node.js ≥ 22, and DeepSeek Harness 0.1.7 to 0.2.x.
  • Safety red line: Class E (configuration/memory) and Class P (personal files) have the highest priority. Regardless of LLM judgments, the system forces them to be displayed as read-only and must never automatically perform any deletion or move operation.
  • Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before performing deletion or junction operations, be sure to confirm the target paths during the preview stage.

Summary

dsh-disk-manager provides a structured C drive management solution. By replacing one-size-fits-all cleaning logic with a category model, and supported by LLM fallback and process snapshots, it reduces the risk of mistaken operations. For DSH users who need to manage local storage space precisely, it is a practical tool choice.
