DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. In Web GUI mode, developers often need to view documentation or handoff records alongside the conversation window. The dsh-doc-rail plugin adds a resizable document panel on the right side of the interface, used to display Markdown or plain text files.

Plugin Positioning

This plugin provides a right-side document rail for the DeepSeek Harness dsh web interface. It is maintained by ShineFree7 and is licensed under the MIT License. The plugin is mounted through shell.overlay and exists in append mode, without replacing the UI provided by DSH.

Core Features

  • Document viewing: Renders Markdown or plain text files in the right-side panel.
  • Theme support: Includes a light theme (warm paper) and a deep blue theme, switchable at any time.
  • Width adjustment: Supports dragging the left edge to adjust the width; double-clicking the left edge resets it to 400px.
  • File management: Supports opening local .md or .txt files; automatically records recent file history.
  • Auto-sync: Re-reads file content every 4 seconds, automatically refreshing the panel when the source file is updated on disk.

Installation and Activation

Before installing, make sure that webServer is enabled in the current DSH environment and that it is running in Web GUI mode.

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-doc-rail

After installation, restart dsh web, and the document panel will appear on the right side. Click the ✕ on the panel to collapse it, and click the 📄 Document Panel button below to reopen it.

Usage

  1. Open a file: Paste the full file path into the input box (.md or .txt supported) and press Enter; or click the “Open” button directly.
  2. History: Click “Recent” to jump to the last viewed file; click “Clear Input” to reset the path box.
  3. Switch theme: Click the “Light” or “Dark” button to switch the color scheme.
  4. Adjust width: Hold and drag the left edge to change the width.

Notes and Requirements

  • Runtime environment: Only supports the Web GUI (dsh web) profile. It will not take effect under a CLI-only profile.
  • Dependency version: Requires Node.js >= 24.
  • Privacy and security: All file reading and configuration are completed within local process memory, communicated via a same-origin JSON interface. There are no network services and no telemetry.
  • State persistence: The panel’s appearance, width, and history are stored in process memory. They are retained after a page refresh, but must be reconfigured after the DSH process is restarted.
