In Web interaction scenarios of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), attachment uploads typically rely on dragging files or pasting from the clipboard. This approach is acceptable on desktop, but it is not intuitive enough on mobile devices or in certain interaction scenarios. The dsh-attach-picker plugin adds an image button to the input toolbar, allowing users to select images directly through the system’s native file dialog and bypass the limitations of dragging or pasting.
Plugin Introduction¶
This plugin is maintained by developer qwerty-k-de. It is a zero-dependency browser-side plugin whose main purpose is to add an image button to the DSH Web conversation input toolbar. When clicked, it invokes the operating system’s native file chooser, supports multiple selection, and automatically filters to supported image formats.
Core Features¶
- Toolbar Integration: Adds an image icon button (slot
conversation.input.left) to the input toolbar. Clicking it triggers file selection. - Native File Selection: Uses the operating system’s native file dialog, supports multiple selection, and displays only supported image formats.
- Limit Validation: Strictly respects the host’s
imageLimitsconfiguration (supported formats, maximum number of images per message, and maximum bytes per image). If limits are exceeded, an inline error message is displayed (for example, prompting that a single image cannot exceed X MB). - Unified Pipeline: Reuses DSH’s existing draft-attachment pipeline, behaving consistently with drag-and-drop and paste, without requiring additional handling.
- Compatibility: Supports DSH 0.1.x and 0.2.x, adapting automatically based on the runtime pipeline version.
- Lightweight: Pure browser-side implementation with zero runtime dependencies.
Installation and Enablement¶
Add the plugin using the official installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-attach-picker
After installation, restart dsh web or refresh the page for the changes to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Open a conversation window in DSH Web.
- Find and click the image button in the input toolbar.
- The operating system opens the file selection dialog; select one or more images.
- The images appear in the draft attachment area below, and they are uploaded together when the message is sent.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use Cases: When users prefer to select files by clicking rather than dragging, or when operating on mobile devices, this plugin can significantly improve the experience.
- Notes: This plugin runs only on the browser side. Before use, ensure that the DSH Web process is running and has loaded the standard conversation/slot client services. When a request is being processed, the button is automatically disabled to prevent state conflicts. Please review the source code to confirm that the license meets your project’s requirements.
Summary¶
By reusing the existing attachment pipeline, dsh-attach-picker provides a more intuitive image upload entry point and reduces unnecessary operational steps. For more details and source code, refer to its GitHub repository.
