Introduction¶
When developing or processing tasks with DSH Web GUI, an agent may have a fleeting thought such as “Wait, that other thing might…” while focused on the current task. If the thought is irrelevant to the current task, interrupting directly can be distracting; if it is relevant, the agent may forget it during later processing. dsh-insight-dock solves this problem by allowing the agent to park brief, strictly bounded side observations without disturbing the current workflow.
Plugin Introduction¶
dsh-insight-dock is a DSH Web GUI client plugin maintained by POPCORNBOOM. Its core value is providing the agent with a “context anchor,” allowing it to park brief, strictly bounded side observations.
Installation and Enablement¶
The plugin is installed through DSH’s plugin system. Run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add dsh-insight-dock
After installation, restart dsh for the plugin to appear in the interface.
Core Features and Usage¶
After installation and restart, a single-line dock appears above the composer (input box), shown as 💡 3 insights. Clicking it expands the current note, and you can use the arrows to switch to other notes. For each note, the following actions are available:
- Tell me more: Have the agent discuss the note from its anchored log window.
- Close: Remove the note.
- Close and tell agent why: Remove the note, and inject a one-line notification containing your reason.
On the DSH settings page, find the “Insights” section to configure the following options:
- Enable/Disable: Control whether the plugin runs.
- Prompt strength: Determines when and how the agent generates insights.
- Concurrent open limit: The number of notes allowed to be open simultaneously, range 1-50.
- Lifetime: How long a note remains alive before it is handled, in minutes, range 1-1440, default 5 minutes.
Technical Details and Limitations¶
Context Anchor¶
Each note remembers the session sequence at the time it was created. The insight_load function can read content from the actual conversation log at that moment. This is implemented using persisted session logs, so the note remains valid even if the agent’s own context is compressed away.
Data and Lifetime¶
- No archive: Notes are deleted when they end, with no archive record.
- Cleared on restart: Because notes exist only in memory, restarting
dshclears the dock. - Persisted settings: The plugin persistently saves settings (file located at
~/.dsh/insight-settings.json), but does not persist note content.
UI and Localization¶
The plugin’s user interface text is in Chinese, including “Tell me more,” “Close and tell agent why,” and all settings labels. The plugin does not support locale binding.
Summary¶
dsh-insight-dock provides a structured way to manage non-task-related thoughts in DSH; by using a context anchor, it ensures observations remain readable even after the agent’s context has been lost.
