Preface

By default, DeepSeek Harness (DSH) wraps global rules in a User message containing a <system-reminder> tag, which can lower the model’s adherence priority to global instructions. The dsh-default-prompt plugin injects core guidance and global instructions directly into the underlying System Prompt via systemPrompt.section, providing the highest system-level authority.

Core Features

System-Level Prompt Injection

The plugin registers directly into the underlying system prompt through systemPrompt.section. The injection point follows the role definition (weight 10) and precedes tool descriptions, ensuring that global rules have the highest execution authority.

Multi-Source Prompt Configuration

Multiple configuration sources are supported to meet different usage requirements:

  • Global file: Reads ~/.dsh/DEFAULT_PROMPT.md by default.
  • Workspace merge: Automatically detects .dsh/prompt.md in the project root directory and applies it as an overlay.
  • Inline editing: Supports writing and saving prompts directly in the Web console.
  • Combined mode: Automatically merges content from multiple sources.

Zero Token Overhead and Caching

When the plugin is disabled or the content is empty, it is automatically omitted without generating extra tokens. Caching is based on file modification time (mtime), reducing disk I/O.

Modern Web Console and Slash Commands

  • Web panel: Supports real-time preview, word count statistics, and one-click synchronization of OpenAI Codex rules.
  • Slash commands:
    • /prompt or /prompt status: View status and preview.
    • /prompt reload: Force cache refresh.
    • /prompt path: Display the file path.
    • /prompt import-codex: Import local ~/.codex/AGENTS.md.

Installation and Enabling

Install the plugin using the official command:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:new-Beginner/dsh-default-prompt

After installation or update, restart DSH. On first startup, ~/.dsh/DEFAULT_PROMPT.md will be initialized automatically.

Typical Usage

After installation, enter the following commands in the chat interface to manage prompts:

/prompt status
/prompt reload
/prompt path
/prompt import-codex

Notes

  • The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process, so file read/write permissions should be taken into account.
  • It supports installation to the Web Profile (including the settings panel) and the Desktop Profile.
  • For first-time use, it is recommended to configure it via the Web console or manually edit ~/.dsh/DEFAULT_PROMPT.md.

Summary

This plugin addresses the low instruction injection priority in DSH by elevating global rules to the System Prompt level. It is suitable for developers who need strict control over model behavior.
