Preface¶
When developing with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), frequently adding workspaces through the sidebar or empty state requires repeated navigation to a specific directory. The dsh-workspace-default-path plugin uses a memory mechanism to automatically open the last used directory when you click “Add workspace,” reducing repetitive operations.
Plugin Introduction¶
This DSH plugin is maintained by masknull and focuses on enhancing the Add workspace flow. It does not replace the official interaction; instead, it provides path memory as a lightweight hook.
Core Features¶
- Automatic Recording: Each time a workspace is added (via the browse dialog or system dialog), the path is recorded automatically.
- Path Prefilling: After memory is enabled, clicking “Add workspace” again opens the browse dialog directly in the recorded directory, and the breadcrumb path is prefilled as well.
- Toggle Control: The plugin is controlled by a toggle in Settings → General. Turning the toggle off results in behavior identical to the plugin not being installed.
- Hot Reload: Settings are persisted to
$DSH_HOME/settings.yaml, and changes take effect without restarting the service.
Installation and Enabling¶
Install it using the official plugin command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:masknull/dsh-workspace-default-path
After installing or updating the code, restart the Web service. The current Web composition disables client HMR, so a restart is required for changes to take effect.
Usage Steps¶
- Open Settings → General and enable the “Remember last workspace” toggle.
- Add any workspace; its path will be recorded by the system.
- The next time you click Add workspace, the dialog will open directly in that directory.
- Toggle the switch off in Settings to restore the default behavior.
Dependencies and Compatibility¶
- DSH Version: Requires DSH >=
dsh-v0.1.2-alpha.1. - Runtime Dependency: Requires
@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-workspace. - Node Dependencies:
@deepseek-ai/schemastery,@deepseek-ai/cosmokit, and@standard-schema/spec. No manual copying is needed; pnpm resolves them into the hoisted node_modules automatically. - License: MIT.
Summary¶
With an extremely simple toggle mechanism, this plugin adds path memory to the official Add workspace flow. It is suitable for developers who frequently add the same directory.
