The philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When developing or interacting using the Web UI Composer, if the model list is long or there are many providers, the native model selector can become difficult in terms of readability and operational efficiency. For this scenario, the dsh-client-ui-model-search plugin is introduced below.
Plugin Scope¶
This is a lightweight client UI plugin for DeepSeek Harness, created by AndyZHENG0715 and licensed under MIT. Its core purpose is to improve the usability of the model selector in the Web Composer when handling large model lists by adding search and collapsible grouping to increase operational efficiency.
Core Features¶
- Top search box: Provides a search box at the top of the model list; typing filters the list in real time.
- Tokenized AND matching: Supports logically combined search. For example, entering
opencode-go deepseekcan match models from a specific provider simultaneously (hyphens and underscores are treated as spaces). The search scope covers model name, ID, description, provider name, and provider ID. - Group collapsing: Provider groups support collapsing and expansion. You can click the group header to control the collapse state, and the number of models in that group is displayed next to the title.
- Theme adaptation: Uses DSH design tokens (
--dsw-*), so interface colors automatically adjust according to the current theme (light/dark). - Bilingual support: Supports Chinese (zh-CN) and English through the official
localeservice. - Non-destructive registration: Registered with
priority: -1, it does not remove the native selector. The plugin only overrides the display at runtime; after uninstallation or disabling, the native selector automatically restores as a fallback mechanism.
Installation and Activation¶
Ensure that a DSH Profile with the Web UI enabled has been configured.
1. Install the plugin
dsh plugin --profile <name> add dsh-client-ui-model-search
2. Local checkout (optional)
dsh plugin --profile <name> add ./dsh-client-ui-model-search
3. Restart the Profile
dsh --profile <name> web
Usage¶
After installation and restarting the Profile, open the model selector in the bottom-right corner of Composer. At this point, a search box appears at the top of the model list. You can click a provider group title to collapse or expand the list.
Notes¶
- DSH pre-release status: DeepSeek Harness is currently still in pre-release stage, and this plugin is developed for this environment.
- Dependency requirements: The plugin requires the following peer dependencies to be installed:
@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-locale,@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime,@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-model-selection,@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-conversation. - Unofficial product: This is not an officially released DeepSeek product and does not involve any endorsement or listing in the official store.
- Compatibility: The plugin is built based on the Community Draft v0.15 manifest and is compatible with the official DSH bundle format (
dsh.bundle.patch,cordis.patch.yml).
Conclusion¶
This plugin optimizes the model selection experience through search and grouping, and adopts a non-destructive design. It is suitable for scenarios where you need to quickly locate models in the DSH Web interface. The project source code is available on GitHub.
