Introduction

In DeepSeek Harness (DSH), Markdown block quotes in assistant output are usually displayed only as plain text. When it is necessary to distinguish notes, warnings, or important information, this lack of visual differentiation becomes limiting. The dsh-callout plugin converts specific Markdown alert markers (such as > [!NOTE]) into semantic callout cards when rendering in the DSH Web UI, without modifying the stored conversation content.

Core Features

The plugin processes Markdown content generated by DSH assistants and converts standardized alert markers into visually GitHub-style cards.

  1. Supported Types
    - NOTE (blue): for prerequisites, environment facts, and boundaries.
    - TIP (green): for better-supported or less obvious approaches.
    - IMPORTANT (purple): for decisions or critical conclusions.
    - WARNING (amber): for potential loss or destructive operations.
    - CAUTION (red): for high-impact or hard-to-revert operations.

  2. Theme Awareness
Card styles follow DSH’s light/dark mode switching.

  3. Source Format Retention
Styling conversion is performed only on the browser side; stored conversation content and the DSH core renderer are not modified.

  4. Element Compatibility
Supports multiple Markdown elements nested inside cards, such as code, links, lists, and nested quotes.

  5. Editing Fallback
Real editing removes card styles and restores the source markers, with the dsh.plugin observer echo path ensuring idempotency.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command in a terminal to install:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:Aafff623/dsh-callout

After installation is complete, you need to hard refresh the Web UI to load the new plugin:

  • Windows / Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
  • macOS: Cmd + Shift + R

Usage Examples

The plugin supports two marker forms: single-line or multi-line. The marker must be the first line of the block quote.

> [!WARNING]
> This operation may overwrite existing configuration.
> [!NOTE] Body text on the same line.
> [!NOTE]
> Body text on the next line.

Notes

  1. Scope
Only assistant Markdown is processed; human messages are not processed.

  2. Formatting Requirements
    - Malformed markers are displayed as plain text.
    - Source-level distinction of backslash-escaped markers is not guaranteed.

  3. Dependency Version
Requires DSH version >= 0.1.2-rc.1. It uses the current DSH Web DOM contract; future renderer changes require retesting.

  4. Not a Parser Replacement
The plugin is not a Markdown parser replacement and does not add new Markdown AST nodes.
