Introduction

When developing with DeepSeek Harness (DSH) or using it for everyday interaction, users often store many local skills in disk directories (such as ~/.agents/skills and $DSH_HOME/skills) and run multiple MCP services. Manually managing the enablement status of these skills and services can be cumbersome. The dsh-skillhub plugin provides a centralized management panel that allows users to toggle skills and MCP services at global, project, and conversation levels, with intelligent downward propagation.

Positioning

dsh-skillhub is a unified skill and MCP service enablement management plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness. It does not modify or delete any original disk files; it only provides visibility control, ensuring that local skills are plug-and-play.

Core Features

  1. Plug-and-play local skills: Automatically scans and lists existing Skills on disk.
  2. MCP service linkage support: Provides a dedicated MCP tab that dynamically hides or exposes tools per service.
  3. Three-level scopes: Supports independent toggles at the global, current project, and current conversation levels.
  4. Intelligent downward propagation: Global settings synchronously override all lower levels, project settings synchronize with their associated conversations, conversation settings provide temporary overrides, and newly created sessions inherit automatically.
  5. One-click ready to use: Supports Web CLI installation and works out of the box.

Installation and Enablement

Before installation, confirm the DSH version. This plugin is compatible with DSH 0.2.0-rc.2 and later rc.x versions; 1.0.4 or higher is recommended.

Run the following command in the terminal to install the Web CLI plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add @aa2246740/dsh-skillhub@1.0.7

After installation, find the skill&mcp page in DSH’s “Settings” to access the management entry for skills and MCP services.

Usage

Managing from the Settings Page

Open DSH Settings and find the skill&mcp page. Here, you can browse all installed skills and MCP services on the machine. Individual toggles, bulk toggles for folders/groups, and “Enable All/Disable All” actions are supported. Global adjustments serve as the default effective values for all projects and sessions.

Conversation-Level Immediate Control

Above the chat input box, click the “Skills” pill button to open a quick panel. In this panel, you can switch between the “This Conversation” and “This Project” scopes, support quick skill search, and copy the /<skill-name> command with one click.

Scopes and Propagation Rules

The plugin provides three scopes, with configuration inheritance:

  • Global: Sets the baseline value and affects all projects and conversations.
  • Project: Affects only the current project and all conversations under it.
  • Chat: Affects only the current conversation.

New projects automatically inherit the global state; new sessions automatically inherit the state of their parent project.

Notes

  1. Visibility control only: The plugin only controls the display and invocation of skills and MCP services; it never modifies or deletes any original disk files.
  2. History protection: After a Skill is turned off, if its content has already been read into the current conversation’s context history, the already-read content in that session will not be altered.
  3. Version compatibility: The package name in npm 1.0.4 does not match the frontend registration name; use @aa2246740/dsh-skillhub@1.0.7 for installation.
  4. Web CLI limitation: The installation command above applies only to the web profile and cannot be used with the desktop App.

Conclusion

dsh-skillhub addresses the fragmentation in managing local skills and MCP services. By providing three scopes and an intelligent propagation mechanism, it offers DSH users a flexible and secure configuration method.
