Introduction¶
When debugging long conversations or developing agents in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface, the native scrolling experience can make it difficult to quickly locate key nodes in hundreds of turns of context. This plugin introduces a Codex-style navigation mechanism that converts conversation turns into vertical tick marks, aiming to solve the issues of inefficient context switching and difficulty in obtaining content overviews.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-conversation-strip is a client-side plugin maintained by mldhao. It adds a column of conversation navigation tick marks to the right side of the DSH main sidebar. The plugin does not modify DSH session data; it only reads the rendered DOM through a MutationObserver in the browser, ensuring privacy and security.
Core Features¶
-
Codex-style tick marks and cards
By default, dash-style tick marks are displayed at approximately 28px to the right of the main sidebar. Each dash represents a complete “user question + assistant reply” turn. Hovering over a tick mark expands a Codex-style card that shows the user question, the first line of the assistant reply, and a structured summary (headings, lists, and paragraphs). -
Continuous hot zones and precise positioning
Each tick mark has a continuous vertical hover hot zone. When the mouse crosses the visual gaps between tick marks, the card does not repeatedly flicker. Clicking a tick mark smoothly moves to the beginning of that turn and displays a brief highlight. -
Automatic measurement and responsive design
The plugin automatically measures the width of the DSH main sidebar and adjusts its position in sync when the sidebar is resized or collapsed. When the window width is less than 900px, the navigation tick marks are automatically hidden to avoid covering the chat area. -
Smart filtering and settings
Three filtering modes are supported: All, Conversation, and Assistant Only. The settings page supports full scrolling and allows adjustment of the distance from the sidebar edge, tick mark density, auto-follow, hover preview, and animations. -
Interactive feedback
During streaming generation, the tick mark for the current turn has a subtle breathing effect. When there are many messages, up to 24 tick marks are displayed around the current turn, with a hint that there is more content before and after.
Installation and Activation¶
Install the plugin through the DSH command line:
dsh plugin --profile web add "D:\path\to\dsh-conversation-strip"
After installation or update, you must fully restart the DSH Web Profile and then force-refresh the page once with Ctrl+F5 before the plugin can load correctly.
Typical Usage¶
- Open any DSH conversation; the navigation tick marks will appear on the right side of the main sidebar.
- Hover over a dash to expand nearby tick marks and view the turn’s question, the first line of the body, and the structured summary.
- Click a dash to smoothly move to the beginning of that turn.
- Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate quickly:
-Ctrl+Shift+J: Show or hide conversation navigation
-Alt+↑: Switch to the previous conversation turn and position it
-Alt+↓: Switch to the next conversation turn and position it - Enable “Conversation Navigation” in DSH settings and adjust filtering, distance, density, auto-follow, and animations.
Notes¶
- DSH
0.1.1-rc.2or a compatible version is recommended. - The plugin runs with browser-side permissions, only reads the page-rendered DOM, and does not upload conversation content or modify DSH session data.
- Ecosystem context: The DSH philosophy is “everything is a plugin”; the community directory (such as the skill library) is an independent site and has no official affiliation with DeepSeek / High-Flyer.
Summary¶
dsh-conversation-strip provides DSH users with efficient long-conversation navigation through Codex-style vertical tick marks. Whether you need to jump to a turn quickly or overview the context, the plugin can significantly improve the debugging experience.
