Foreword

In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) session editor, repeatedly entering fixed phrases (such as “continue” or “please rewrite”) increases the operational burden. DSH’s plugin mechanism allows community members to extend functionality, and dsh-quick-replies is designed for this purpose. It is mounted above the input box and provides the ability to store text chips and send them with one click.

What Is This

dsh-quick-replies is a DSH client plugin maintained by idoall. Its core purpose is to provide quick reply functionality in the session editor. By storing predefined text fragments, it enables fast sending without interfering with DSH’s core runtime logic.

Core Features

  • One-click sending: Stores short text chips that can be sent as normal user messages with a single click.
  • Smart queueing: Queues messages when the session is idle, guides sending within safe boundaries while the session is running, and never interrupts the current turn.
  • Draft protection: Sending uses the session’s prompt API, preserving text, references, images, and cursor position in the draft.
  • Manageability: Supports adding, editing, deleting, enabling/disabling, reordering, and importing/exporting configuration via JSON.
  • Adaptive layout: Automatically collapses into a single row when space is limited; long lists scroll within the bar.
  • Empty session protection: Detects when the history is empty and rejects sending to prevent accidental operations.

Installation and Activation

You need to run the DeepSeek Harness Web profile, and the environment must meet Node.js 20 or higher. The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-quick-replies@latest

After installation, restart DSH, and the plugin will be visible in the interface.

Typical Usage

  1. Open a session with existing messages; the quick replies bar appears above the editor.
  2. Click an existing chip (such as “continue”) to send that text.
  3. Click the + button, enter a label and content, and save; the chip will appear in the bar.
  4. Click the gear icon to enter the management interface, where you can edit, delete, reorder, or import/export JSON.

Notes

  • Data storage: The reply library is stored in the Host settings entry dsh-quick-replies. Different browsers and devices under the same Host share the data.
  • LAN page limitations: When accessed through LAN bridging (dsh-lan-proxy, dsh-bridge, dsh-mobile), settings-related UI panels become unavailable, but data read/write functionality can still work through the Remote interface.
  • Uninstall and cleanup: Uninstalling the plugin does not delete the saved reply library. To completely remove it, first export the JSON in the management interface, then manually delete the dsh-quick-replies entry from the configuration file.

Conclusion

This plugin reduces frequent repetitive text input by providing manageable quick replies. At the same time, through strict queueing and draft protection mechanisms, it ensures compatibility with DSH’s core functionality. It is suitable for developers who need to frequently use fixed replies in sessions.
