DSH’s philosophy is “everything is a plugin.” Directly invoking local Windows operating capabilities from the Web interface is a common need among agent developers. The dsh-winagent plugin solves this problem by encapsulating the capabilities of desktop WinAgent into DSH, allowing you to use Windows Agent features without leaving your browser.
Plugin Introduction¶
This is a plugin maintained by HarrisXiu and licensed under the MIT License. Its core purpose is to bring the full capabilities of WinAgent—including OpenAI-compatible APIs/local Ollama, 53+ Windows tools, Skills, MCP, and the LLM Wiki personal knowledge base—to DSH’s Web interface.
Core Features¶
- Chat and Interaction: Supports streaming output, chain-of-thought collapsing, and tool-call cards. Attachment handling supports images, text, and PDFs. For dangerous operations, the system displays a confirmation dialog.
- Configuration and Settings: Supports Provider management (OpenAI or Ollama), and allows configuration of request behavior, vision assistance, persona prompts, and paths for skills/mcp/vault.
- Personal Knowledge Base: Provides file tree browsing, full-text search, and editing capabilities. Supports importing via URL or uploading files for automatic compilation into the knowledge base (LLM Wiki), including LINT / REFLECT workflows.
- Document Processing: Supports conversion and processing of PDF, Word, Excel, and PPT files.
- Data Storage: Plugin data is stored in
$DSH_HOME/winagent/.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the official installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-winagent
After installation, you need to restart the dsh web process and refresh the page in your browser for the plugin to take effect.
Usage Steps¶
- After installing and restarting
dsh web, a WinAgent floating button appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. Click it to open the plugin interface. - First, configure the Provider in Settings. For an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, provide a Base URL containing
/v1+ API Key + Model; for local Ollama, configure the Ollama service address. - After configuration, simply enter instructions in the input box to start using it.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Permissions and Security: The plugin executes tools with the current Windows user’s permissions. Dangerous operations such as deleting files, writing to the registry, ending processes, and executing commands require popup confirmation by default. This can be disabled in settings, but caution should be exercised. The API Key is stored in plaintext in
$DSH_HOME/winagent/config.json(a user-private directory); do not share this directory. - Scope: Personalized desktop pet themes (e.g., character illustrations) are not included in this plugin; persona prompts can be freely modified in settings.
Summary¶
By integrating the capabilities of desktop WinAgent into DSH’s Web interface, the dsh-winagent plugin enables direct interaction with the Windows system from a browser. Once the Provider is configured, developers can use 53+ Windows tools, manage a personal knowledge base, and process various documents directly in the Web interface.
