Introduction

DeepSeek Harness is currently in the developer preview stage. For developers or users accustomed to using Russian, directly using the English interface may present reading barriers. To address this issue, the community provides the deepseek-harness-locale-ru plugin, which registers a Russian language pack and dictionary to fully switch the Web UI to Russian.

Plugin Overview

This is an MIT-licensed plugin maintained by warment. It registers the Russian language and dictionary through DeepSeek Harness’s documented client API (@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-locale), and provides Russian names for permission presets. After installation, there is no need to modify the Harness source files.

Installation and Enablement

  1. Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:warment/deepseek-harness-locale-ru
  1. Restart the DeepSeek Harness Web service (stop and then restart the process).
  2. Open the Web interface, then go to Settings (Настройки) → General (Общее).
  3. In the Language (Язык) dropdown menu, select «Русский».
  4. The interface will switch to Russian immediately.

Uninstallation

If you need to remove the plugin, run the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web remove deepseek-harness-locale-ru

You also need to restart dsh web for the removal to fully take effect.

Notes

  • Developer preview status: DeepSeek Harness is in the developer preview stage, with rapid iteration and potential breaking changes. This plugin has been tested against upstream version cd5ef81 (v0.1.2-alpha.1).
  • External plugin mechanism: This is an external locale plugin, not a core language built into DeepSeek Harness. It works by using public APIs.
  • Compatibility check: If Harness is updated to a new upstream version, it is recommended to re-run the check script to verify compatibility.
  • Missing translation handling: If a translation is not yet available in the dictionary, the system will fall back to displaying English and will not cause the interface to crash.
  • Safety notice: Read the SAFETY.md notification before installation.
