Preface

In DeepSeek Harness (DSH), sessions are inherently linear. In complex reasoning tasks, or when you need to explore multiple paths concurrently, a linear view can quickly become unwieldy. Loom Chat is a web-client plugin that converts standard DSH sessions into a pannable, zoomable canvas, letting you visualize and explore these branches.

Plugin Overview

Loom Chat is a DSH client plugin maintained by onenameneo. It belongs to the web-client category and is specifically designed to convert linear sessions into a visualized canvas view to support parallel exploration.

Core Features

  • Canvas View: Converts linear sessions into a pannable, zoomable canvas for parallel exploration.
  • Branching Mechanism: Supports starting branches from a message or text selection. Sub-conversations are independent and can continue branching to unlimited depth.
  • Independent Controls: Each window on the canvas can independently read its transcript, edit drafts, send messages, or stop generation.
  • Content Rendering: The plugin is responsible for rendering canvas transcripts, including text/Markdown, code, reasoning, tools, status, commands, context, and attachment references.
  • Interaction and Performance: Supports panning, zooming, node selection, and branching from any window. Supports collapsing subtrees and loading cold history on demand.

Installation and Enablement

Install the latest release with npm:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-loom-chat
dsh web

The plugin only contributes to the web profile and does not modify the native DSH sidebar or replace the native conversation renderer. If you need the latest unreleased commit, you can use the GitHub source; however, note that GitHub installation builds the package locally via its prepare script, whereas npm downloads prebuilt artifacts.

Typical Usage

  1. Open Canvas: Open Loom from the native DSH session header to pan and zoom on the canvas.
  2. Branch: Use the branch action on any conversation window to continue exploring from that context.
  3. Work in Parallel: Each branch maintains its own history, drafts, and runtime state.

Use Cases and Cautions

  • Use Cases: Suitable for users who need to explore multiple reasoning paths concurrently, manage complex context branches, or work in parallel on different assumptions.
  • Cautions:
    • The plugin runs under the permissions of the current DSH process. Review the source code and license before installing.
    • Sessions with origin: 'subagent' are excluded from the regular Loom topic graph.
    • After a page refresh, presentation state for branch selection is restored by sub-conversation ID.
    • The canvas keeps the full relationship graph separate from presentation; collapsing a window does not change the persisted parent-child relationship.

Loom Chat provides DSH users with a structured branch-exploration solution. For more details, see the GitHub repository.
