Introduction¶
DSH plugin: Reads local OpenAI Codex projects and sessions, and seamlessly “continues” them in DSH—when Codex’s 5-hour limit is reached, the work isn’t lost; switch environments and keep going.
This plugin is maintained by zhoujianbin and aims to solve context loss and session interruption caused by Codex limits or environment switching. It read-only accesses the local Codex data directory and converts historical sessions into resumable context.
Core Features¶
- 📂 Project/Session Browsing: Aggregates projects by working directory, with title (from session_index.l), time, model, and message count at a glance; supports search.
- 🔎 Session Preview: Displays goal / last message / color-coded content (user / Codex / thinking / tool calls).
- ⚡ Resume Bundle: Compresses content within a token budget (truncated tool outputs, summaries only for reasoning, paired by callId), and includes cwd existence and git status.
- ✍️ One-Click Continue: In the sidebar, click “⚡ Continue This Session” to directly inject the resume instruction into the input box (no more copy-paste); a “📄 RESUME.md” handoff document is generated in the project directory (usable for switching agents / human review / cross-machine migration).
- 🧰 Two Usage Modes: Directly instruct the agent in conversation to call the
codextool (primary path), or browse in the DSH 2.0 native right sidebar “Codex Continue” tab and then click continue. - 🔍 Browsing Experience: Project/session search, refresh, archive markers, goal/last message preview.
- 🔒 Security: Read-only rollout JSONL + index; never reads auth. / config.toml / sqlite.
Installation and Enablement¶
Run the following command on the machine where DSH web is running:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-codex-continue
Restart dsh web to take effect.
⚠️ Note: Within 24 hours after the plugin release, pnpm 11’s supply-chain policy (
minimumReleaseAge=1440) will block installation. In this case, add--config.minimumReleaseAge=0after the command (effective for that invocation only; no configuration is changed).
Compatibility¶
- 0.3.x: Migrated to the DSH 2.0 native right sidebar extension API (
ctx.sidebarRightTabs+ctx.slots), with verification completed for production service, real browser, and input box injection. The current0.3.xhas been verified for host startup, REST API, client loading, real browser UI, and input box injection on DSH0.2.0-rc.1. - 0.2.2: Still targets older DSH versions; do not install it directly into DSH 2.0.
Usage¶
Method 1: Tell the Agent Directly¶
Enter the instruction in the conversation, and the Agent will call the codex tool to fetch the resume bundle.
继续我的 Codex 会话《设计会话同步工具》,先看看现场再接着做。
Method 2: Browse via DSH 2.0 Sidebar¶
- Right sidebar → “✦ Codex Continue” tab.
- Select a project → select a session → preview.
- Click “⚡ Continue This Session” (the resume instruction is injected directly into the input box; press Enter to send).
- A “📄 RESUME.md” handoff document is also generated in the project directory.
Conclusion¶
By reusing local Codex session data, this plugin reduces the cost of switching environments in agent development. See the following links for more details and source code.
