DSH (DeepSeek Harness) needs continuous status feedback when handling task scheduling, agent interactions, and approval workflows. Traditional log output or simple system notifications often cannot meet the need for immediate interaction. zeta987/dsh-notify-zeta is a community plugin that provides DSH with a built-in notification center and supports single choice, multiple choice, text input, and one-time approvals through native Windows pop-ups (WPF).
Feature Overview¶
The plugin mainly includes the following capabilities:
-
DSH Built-in Notification Center
Open Settings → Zeta Notify to view recent notification records, filter by unread status or type, mark notifications as read, or clear history. -
Interactive Windows Cards
The plugin uses Windows WPF and PowerShell to show native pop-up windows instead of simple system notification bubbles. It supports:- Single choice, multiple choice, and free-text input.
- One-click allow or deny operations.
These cards remain available even if the browser tab is closed, as long as the DSH process continues running on the Windows host.
-
Dual-Channel Notifications
- Native channel: Directly invokes Windows cards, suitable for scenarios requiring action confirmation.
- Browser channel: Invokes the browser’s system notification API, requiring an HTTPS or loopback address environment and browser permission.
-
Fine-Grained Control
Provides 14 event switches (including task completion, errors, interruptions, approvals, and schedule reviews), allowing control over sound, content preview, and whether to suppress normal notifications in the current session. -
Language Following
The UI and notification text automatically follow DSH’s runtime language (English or Traditional Chinese). When thelanguagesetting isauto, it follows DSH; when set tozhoren, it fixes the language. -
Built-in Testing Tools
The Settings page provides safe test buttons to simulate browser notifications, native cards, question cards, and approval cards, without running real tools or calling a model.
Installation and Activation¶
The plugin is released under the MIT license and maintained by the community. Before installing, ensure that DSH is installed and the web configuration profile has been initialized.
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-notify-zeta
After installation, you must restart the DSH process and refresh the browser page, then go to Settings → Zeta Notify to activate and configure it.
Usage¶
-
View Notifications
Open the notification center to view recent notification records. By default, the system retains the most recent 200 records in memory. -
Test Notifications
Click the browser and native test buttons to verify that notifications are delivered correctly. Browser sound must be played after user interaction with the page, while native cards depend on the DSH process on the Windows host. -
Configuration Options
- Event switches: Enable or disable notifications for 14 specific events as needed.
- Language setting: Modify the
languagefield in the plugin configuration line (default isauto). - Preview control: Turning off content preview hides details of normal notifications, but interactive cards still display full content.
-
Approvals and Responses
When an approval or question card is received, the plugin binds the specific session, originating agent, and request. If the native card is unavailable or fails, DSH falls back to the standard approval dialog.
System Requirements and Notes¶
- Node.js version: Node.js 22.19.0 or higher must be installed.
- Operating system: The native Windows card feature only supports Windows 10 or 11. The plugin relies on PowerShell 5.1 and WPF that ship with Windows; no additional .NET installation is required.
- Browser notifications: If using the browser notification channel, the page must be accessed via HTTPS or a loopback address, and the browser must be granted permission for that origin.
- Privacy and security: The plugin does not include telemetry, external push transport, or Webhook functionality. Settings are saved in the current DSH configuration file with the
zeta-notify.settings.prefix. Restarting DSH clears the in-memory history. - Compatibility: The DSH version must meet the plugin’s requirements (typically 0.1.5-rc.1 or higher). DSH development preview APIs may change, and other versions may have compatibility issues.
Summary¶
zeta987/dsh-notify-zeta addresses the pain points of status feedback and human intervention in long-running DSH tasks by introducing a native Windows interaction layer and centralized notification management. It is a lightweight, dependency-free community plugin suitable for developers who need to deeply integrate approval workflows in a Windows environment.
