In the development workflow of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), agents often require human intervention: waiting for a reply after a turn, asking questions by invoking tools, or executing approval actions. Once you switch tabs or move on to other tasks, these requests may be ignored, leaving the agent idle for a long time. dsh-plugin-attention-chime solves this problem by using macOS system sounds and notification banners to turn “the agent needs you” into an audible, visible, and click-to-jump signal.

Features

This plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:

  • Three independent reminders: Separate toggles, sounds, and volume controls for the “waiting for reply,” “question,” and “approval” scenarios.
  • System notifications and jump: Displays macOS system notification banners. If terminal-notifier is installed, clicking the notification can automatically activate the browser and switch to the tab whose title matches the session.
  • Background task guard: The plugin checks whether the agent has any background jobs or running subagents. Reminders are triggered only when the agent is truly idle, avoiding false alerts.
  • Escalation mechanism: If ignored for a long time, the plugin repeats reminders at configured intervals and automatically increases the volume (+0.5 each time, capped at 3) until handled or the maximum number of attempts is reached.
  • Flexible configuration: Supports configuring directly in the settings page card, as well as overriding profile settings via cordis.patch.yml.

Installation

Run the following command in the terminal to install:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:YuChuanhui3/dsh-plugin-attention-chime

After installation, restart dsh web to load the new plugin layer.

Note: To use the click-notification jump feature, install terminal-notifier first.

Configuration and Usage

After installation, you can configure or test it in the following ways.

Settings Page

Find the “Plugins -> Configurable -> Attention Reminder” card in the DSH settings interface. Changes take effect immediately, and the configuration is persisted to ~/.dsh/settings.yaml.

Profile Patch Override

You can also override the configuration in the profile’s cordis.patch.yml. Note that the patch replaces the config entry entirely, so you must provide the complete configuration.

Preview Notification Sounds

Before installing the plugin, you can test the built-in system sounds to confirm they meet your expectations:

# 试听回复等待音效
afplay /System/Library/Sounds/Glass.aiff

# 试听提问等待音效
afplay /System/Library/Sounds/Funk.aiff

# 试听审批等待音效
afplay /System/Library/Sounds/Sosumi.aiff

Environment and Limitations

  • Runtime environment: The plugin runs entirely locally, has no dependencies on external services, and does not collect telemetry data. However, it requires macOS and system permissions (Notifications and Automation).
  • Dependency requirements: The DeepSeek Harness web profile must be installed.
  • Compatibility: Compatible with the dsh 0.1.2-rc series.
  • Tab matching strategy: When clicking to jump, the plugin matches browser tabs by checking whether the tab title contains the session name. If multiple tabs have highly similar titles, it may focus on the wrong tab.
