Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture. When using the Web interface, interface hierarchy and conversation content need to be visually distinguished. The Cutout Clash theme bundle uses neo-brutalist and pop-art styles to provide expressive geometry for the Shell, Composer, and Goal interface edges, while keeping conversation text visually calm and readable.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: dsh-theme-cutout-clash
  • Maintainer: YrracOwl
  • Category: Fun reskin
  • Core value: Selectable neo-brutalist/pop-art theme bundle for DeepSeek Harness Web with calm reading surfaces.

Core Features

Visual System: Loud Edge, Calm Center

The theme follows the Loud edge, calm center visual logic:

  1. Expressive geometry: The sidebar, selectors, Composer, Goal, and transition surfaces carry geometric lines and borders.
  2. Calm reading surfaces: Conversation text, Markdown, terminal output, diff comparisons, code metrics, scroll geometry, and streaming content remain steady.
  3. Semantic states: Tool and thinking surfaces use narrow semantic tracks rather than thick shadows on every card.
  4. Link and code handling:
    - Inline link scoping is limited to the conversation text plane.
    - Variant-specific explicit underlines are used: bright cyan/yellow in Night mode, and dark blue/red in Pop mode.
    - The official DSH Markdown renderer converts code tags for absolute URLs into <code><a></a></code>; the theme matches the code chip foreground color for these.

Variants and Motion

The theme provides multiple appearance variants and supports motion preferences in settings:

  • Variants:
  • Default appearance: Follows the DSH built-in appearance.
  • Cutout Clash: Warm paper tones, lime green action color, pink event color, cyan signal color.
  • Night Cutout: Ink blue voltage palette, yellow/cyan hierarchy, and filled yellow controls with dark foregrounds.
  • Pop Signal: Warm Press palette, with print blue, red, and yellow.
  • Motion preferences:
  • Full transitions: Full animation effects.
  • Follow system: Follows system settings.
  • Disable transitions: Disables animations.
  • Supports system-level prefers-reduced-motion.

Installation and Activation

  1. Install the plugin:
Use the official command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-theme-cutout-clash

After installation, the DSH Web process must be restarted, because the host scans the browser plugin list at startup.

  1. Enable the theme:
Open Settings → General → Cutout Clash theme to apply it.

  2. Local development:
Install the local version from the parent directory:

dsh plugin --profile web add .\dsh-theme-cutout-clash

Notes

  1. Bundled resources: The plugin does not include any external fonts, images, audio, network resources, game icons, or character assets.
  2. Lifecycle events: DSH currently does not publicly expose app/ready, shell/ready, or boot/ready Client events.
  3. Preference coordination: Acid Noir and Cutout Clash share the dsh.theme.preference.v1 versioned browser record. The default appearance clears this record.
  4. Compatibility: Prefer the DSH 0.1.2+ Client Store, and retain a runtime fallback for older RC versions.
