Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. When using the official subagent tools (subagent / subagent_fork), developers often need fine-grained control over the model provider, model name, or reasoning mode for different root sessions, while also expecting a unified default routing policy.

dsh-subagent-conductor is designed to address this issue. It operates as an independent configuration and default routing layer before the official subagent tool selection logic, providing root session selection, role template management, and global default routing configuration capabilities.

Plugin Positioning

This plugin is maintained by user YrracOwl and belongs to the admin-security category. It does not modify the DSH core, replace the official tools subagent or subagent_fork, or register its own delegation tools. It primarily provides a configuration layer that runs before the official tool selection logic, responsible for resolving Provider, Model, and Reasoning Effort.

Core Features

  1. Lifecycle-Safe Routing and Role Control
The plugin operates at subagent request boundaries and provides hierarchical routing policies based on sessions, roles, and global defaults.

  2. Root Session Selection in the Input Box
In the input box root session selector, users can specify Provider, Model, and Reasoning Effort for different root sessions. This selector is rendered on the left side of the conversation input area and supports viewing the effective source of each value (default role, root session, global default, official or native inheritance).

  3. Role Templates and Visual Editor
It supports creating and managing role templates, including ID, display name, description, and the corresponding Provider/Model/Reasoning Effort combination. A visual interface for adding, deleting, updating, and viewing is provided, with support for bulk editing and backup via JSON.

  4. Global Default Routing Configuration
It allows configuring a global default Provider/Model pair and reasoning mode, which becomes effective when no specific root session selection exists.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin via the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-subagent-conductor

After installation, the DSH Web process must be restarted for the plugin to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. Basic Configuration: After installation and restart, manage global default routing and default roles in the settings panel.
  2. Bulk Management: Use the JSON import/export feature to bulk-edit and backup roles.
  3. Version Migration: When upgrading from DSH 0.1.x to 0.2, defaultRoute and sessionSelections must be manually configured in the profile patch.

Use Cases and Notes

  • Version Compatibility: The plugin is compatible with DSH <= 0.1.5 and DSH >= 0.1.7-rc.2.
  • Feature Changes: v0.2 removed the subagent_direct tool and private marker-related features from v0.1. v0.2 removed configuration items such as subagentProvider, backgroundMode, maxDepth, and enableRunInBackground; these features are now managed by the official tool rows.
  • Migration Note: For DSH >= 0.1.7, if a v0.1 configuration file exists, the plugin will display a warning at startup. The defaultRoute and sessionSelections configurations must be manually migrated in the profile patch.
  • Dependencies: The plugin depends on @deepseek-ai/schemastery, with the version constraint requiring ^3.18.4.
  • License: The MIT License is used.

Summary

dsh-subagent-conductor provides structured subagent routing management for DeepSeek Harness Web. It does not interfere with the core logic of official tools but helps users uniformly manage model selection and role templates at the root session level through a pre-layer configuration.
