Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides a plugin-based architecture that allows workbench functionality to be extended. During development or debugging, developers often need to inspect source code, configuration files, or logs in the workspace while also viewing the AI conversation context. The official DSH interface itself does not have a sidebar file browsing feature, which requires frequent window switching or the use of external tools. relay-dsh-plugin-files uses the plugin system to add a file browsing panel on the right side of the official DSH Web UI, allowing developers to view and preview files without leaving the current conversation.
What Is This?¶
relay-dsh-plugin-files is a plugin that provides a workspace file browsing view for the DeepSeek Harness Workbench. The plugin is maintained by yangbobo2021 and is licensed under the MIT License.
Its core purpose is to:
1. Add a Files view to the Workbench sidebar.
2. Load the file tree of the current session workspace using the DSH Agent identity.
3. Provide limited UTF-8 text previews of file contents.
4. Provide a filter box to quickly filter visible files.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following specific capabilities:
- File Tree Display: Loads and displays the file structure of the current workspace in the Workbench sidebar.
- Identity Authentication: Uses the DSH Agent identity to load workspace files and ensure security.
- Path Validation: Performs a workspace containment check to ensure previewed content is strictly limited to the active workspace path.
- Text Preview: Supports previewing UTF-8 text files such as source code, Markdown, JSON, and logs.
- Quick Filtering: Provides a filter box that allows users to quickly narrow the visible file scope.
- Non-Binary Handling: Does not treat binary files, oversized files, or paths outside the workspace as plain text previews.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing this plugin requires installing relay-dsh-plugin-workbench as well as the host panel. The installation command is as follows:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.2-rc.1 plugin --profile web add relay-dsh-plugin-workbench@0.2.3-rc.1 relay-dsh-plugin-files@0.2.3-rc.1
After installation is complete, start or restart the DSH Web process:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.1.2-rc.1 web
Restarting the process is the key step to ensure that the plugin is loaded and activated.
Typical Usage¶
In the DSH Web interface, the typical workflow is as follows:
- Open the URL output by the DSH Web terminal and enter the official interface.
- Complete the first-launch guidance (if any).
- Create or select a conversation that is associated with a local workspace directory.
- Open the Workbench sidebar in the left or right panel.
- Select the
Filesview in the Workbench panel. - Click a file in the list to view its UTF-8 text content in the panel.
Applicable Scenarios and Caveats¶
Applicable Scenarios:
- DSH users who need to browse workspace files associated with the current conversation in the browser.
- Developers who need to preview UTF-8 text such as Markdown, JSON, and logs.
- Users who want to extend file browsing capabilities through the plugin system while continuing to use the official DSH.
Caveats:
- This plugin only has the Files view and does not depend on Codex, Claude, Relay Events, or any private Relay runtime. It communicates with the shared Workbench shell through a public plugin contract.
- The plugin does not support previewing binary files, oversized files, or paths outside the workspace as plain text.
- The plugin is licensed under the MIT License.
Summary¶
relay-dsh-plugin-files is a lightweight DSH plugin that supplements file browsing capability through the plugin mechanism without modifying the core logic of the official DSH. It is suitable for developers who frequently need to consult text files within the workspace context and helps maintain a continuous development workflow.
