When developing agents with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), you often need to provide supplemental information while an agent run is in progress. Sending a message directly interrupts the current turn, which can break context or reset the task. The dsh-btw plugin provides a non-intrusive solution, allowing users to queue supplemental notes via the /btw command for processing after the agent completes its current turn.

Purpose

This is a DSH plugin maintained by XiaoWind. It adds a user-facing /btw slash command to Harness instances configured with a command adapter (for example, the web profile), allowing supplemental notes to be queued without interrupting the agent.

Core Capabilities

  • Add a /btw slash command: Provides an explicit entry point for queueing operations.
  • Non-interrupting queue: Queues supplemental notes for the agent’s “next turn”. The current in-progress turn runs to completion and is not canceled or restarted.
  • Language-agnostic: Supports note content in any language.
  • Ordering guarantee: Uses FIFO (first in, first out) processing to ensure notes are handled in submission order.
  • Stateless design: Once a note is delivered, it is removed from the queue, leaving no persistent trace. Restarting the process does not replay old notes.
  • Service injection: Injects the commands service to support slash command logic.

Installation and Enablement

Install it using DSH’s official plugin command. The plugin is automatically added to the profile.

dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/XiaoWind/dsh-btw.git

After installing or updating, the Web app must be restarted for the changes to take effect.

Usage

The plugin provides the following commands:

  • /btw <note>: Queues a supplemental note. The note is treated as a regular user message, and the agent includes it in subsequent task context.
  • /btw help: Displays help information.

Notes

  • Superseded by an official feature: The official DeepSeek Harness Web app now has a built-in “queue/guidance” composer, covering and extending the capabilities of /btw (supports direct Enter to queue or shortcut-guided input). Unless you specifically need an explicit /btw slash command, or you are using a non-Web profile (that is, without a composer interface), this plugin is usually not necessary.
  • Activation restriction: It only activates in profiles configured with a command adapter (such as the web profile).
  • No configuration options: The plugin itself has no configuration file and is ready to use after installation.
