When handling complex tasks in DeepSeek Harness, you often need to address sudden, small questions in between. Frequently switching sessions or copying text can interrupt the workflow. dsh-quick-ask solves this by providing a floating sidebar in the Web GUI, allowing independent, lightweight Q&A without disturbing the main conversation.
This is a client-side plugin maintained by Volta-ln. It implements a ChatGPT-style sidebar chat panel that answers small, related questions through a separate session.
Core Features¶
- Independent sidebar session: Driven by the official
/apiRPC and/api/remote.muxWebSocket, leaving the main conversation’s history, queue, and agents unaffected. - Topic awareness: Automatically attaches a snapshot of the visible conversation as background context, with an option to uncheck and disable it.
- Lightweight UX: Supports streaming text, collapsible reasoning, tool-call chips, a stop button, and queue management.
- Pure client:
dsh.client.platform: web, with no server dependencies.
Install and Enable¶
Install it using the official command:
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add dsh-quick-ask
After installation, reload the Web page to use it.
Typical Usage¶
- Click the floating chat button on the right edge of the chat view to open the panel.
- Type a question and press Enter to send it.
- Use New Topic to start a new session, Clear Screen to clear the panel display, and Stop to cancel the answer.
- Uncheck Attach Main Conversation Context to ask without background context.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Suitable for quick, lightweight contextual Q&A while the main agent is executing tasks.
- This is a pure client-side plugin with no server-side service.
- It must run in the DeepSeek Harness environment.
- It is released under the MIT license; it is recommended to review the source code before installation.
