Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness supports extending functionality with plugins. When developing or testing with API calls, paying attention to billing time windows (Peak/Off-peak) is an important part of cost control. Manually checking the schedule or frequently refreshing the web page to view the status is inefficient. dsh-peaktime-clock is designed to address this pain point by providing intuitive visual feedback in the bottom-right corner of the Web UI, allowing you to stay on the current page while tracking the billing status.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a corner clock component designed for the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI, used to indicate the current billing period status. It is maintained by tingao. Through visual colors and a countdown, it helps developers quickly determine whether the current time is in a full-price period or a discount period.
Core Features¶
This plugin runs only in the browser and does not involve network requests or data upload:
- Status color indication: The whale icon and background capsule change color based on DeepSeek’s official pricing windows. Full-price periods are shown in red, and discount periods are shown in green.
- Countdown display: Shows the remaining time until the next billing window boundary (for example,
1h 23m). - Local time rendering: Displays local time and calculates it automatically based on the browser time zone.
- UTC alignment: Internally, the plugin classifies status based on UTC time, ensuring that billing logic remains correct regardless of local time zone.
- Official pricing windows: Uses the UTC time windows defined by DeepSeek.
DeepSeek Billing Time Windows (UTC)¶
The plugin determines status based on the following UTC schedule:
| Status | UTC Window |
|---|---|
| Full price | 01:00–04:00 |
| Discount | 04:00–06:00 |
| Full price | 06:00–10:00 |
| Discount | 10:00–01:00 (next day) |
Installation and Activation¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-peaktime-clock
After installation, restart DeepSeek Harness. After restarting, the whale icon will automatically appear in the bottom-right corner of the Web UI.
Typical Usage¶
- Check status: Observe the color of the whale icon. Red indicates the current full-price period, while green indicates a discount period.
- Check countdown: The number on the capsule shows the remaining time until the next billing window switch.
- View details: Hover the mouse over the whale icon to display the specific UTC range for the current window, the fixed daily schedule, and the exact local date and time.
Notes¶
- No configuration required: After installation, it runs automatically without any configuration.
- Fully local: All calculations, including the countdown and status classification, are performed locally in the browser. No network requests or telemetry data are sent.
- Open-source license: This project follows the MIT License.
- Asset source: The whale icon asset comes from the official DeepSeek Logo in the Lobe Icons project (
lobe-icons/deepseek-color.svg).
Conclusion¶
This plugin addresses the pain point of monitoring billing windows in a lightweight way for developers. If you are frequently using the DeepSeek API, this plugin can help you manage costs more intuitively.
