Preface¶
The plugin-based architecture of DeepSeek Harness supports extending the model selection experience through added logic. In multi-vendor, multi-model scenarios, direct selection can easily become confusing. The dsh-model-groups plugin introduces grouped views by platform and vendor to optimize this process.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is an independently developed client plugin maintained by user roclee2692 under the MIT license. It is not affiliated with the official DeepSeek team and serves only as a client extension for DeepSeek Harness version 0.1.1-rc.2. After installation, it does not replace existing community skins or marketplace components.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities during model selection:
- Reuses existing services: It directly uses the existing
modelDirectoriesservice in DeepSeek Harness to retrieve the model directory. - Overrides the selection slot: It only overrides the
conversation.input.modelslot and does not interfere with other core features. - Grouped display: It displays models grouped by vendor while preserving the original Provider ID.
- Unknown model routing: Unrecognized model IDs are automatically routed to
Other/platform. - Thinking control: Thinking-related controls are provided by the host metadata of the selected model, rather than being hard-coded in the plugin.
- Native popup: Dialogs use the browser’s native top-level display to avoid being clipped by the theme container.
- No credential handling: The plugin itself does not handle any authentication-credential-related logic.
Installation and Enablement¶
Installation must be performed through the DSH Profile mechanism. Do not manually assemble commands.
There are two configuration methods. Choose one and do not use both at the same time:
-
Configure via Bundle:
In the corresponding DSH Profile configuration, adddsh-model-groupsto thedsh.profile.bundlesarray. -
Configure via Patch:
Insert the entries fromcordis.patch.ymlinto the Patch configuration for that Profile.
Important Note: The built-in model selection plugin must remain enabled because it provides the shared directory service and /model command support.
Verification and Usage¶
Before formal deployment, it is recommended to verify compatibility in an isolated Profile.
- Lock the version: Lock a compatible Release version in the configuration file.
- Run tests: Execute
npm testfor local verification. - Integration check: You can load the plugin from a macOS EAC Profile and check its runtime status through Chromium using Live Server.
Notes and Limitations¶
- Non-official plugin: This is not an official DeepSeek DSH plugin.
- Skin replacement warning: It does not replace community skins or marketplace components.
- Compatibility risk: There is no compatibility guarantee for any future version of DeepSeek Harness.
- Webview limitations: Native WKWebView-specific regression issues are not certified.
Summary¶
The dsh-model-groups plugin reuses underlying services and overrides specific slots to provide a clearer grouped display of models. It is suitable for users who need fine-grained management of multi-platform model lists. Source code and detailed documentation are available on GitHub.
