In DeepSeek Harness Desktop, developers usually need to quickly understand the branch status of the current session workspace. Manually running git status or switching branches in a terminal can interrupt the conversation flow. The dsh-git-branch plugin provides an intuitive way to view and switch branches through a pill in the conversation bar.
This is a conversation bar plugin for DeepSeek Harness Desktop. It can display the current workspace branch status on the left side of the Composer, expand a list of local and remote branches after clicking, and switch branches after confirmation. The plugin is maintained by Rock-ql and is licensed under the MIT License.
Core Features¶
- Conversation bar pill: Displays the current branch name, detached HEAD status, whether the workspace has uncommitted changes (dirty dot), and ahead/behind markers relative to upstream (↑ / ↓) on the left side of the Composer.
- Branch list interaction: Click the pill to expand the local and remote branch list. Supports keyword filtering, up/down arrow key selection, Enter to confirm, and Esc to cancel.
- Branch switching: Supports switching to local branches. For remote branches that have no local tracking branch, it runs
checkout -tto create a tracking branch. - Create branch: You can quickly create a new branch from the current HEAD and switch to it.
- Fetch option: Before switching, it can confirm whether to run Fetch.
- Error handling: If switching fails (including conflicts caused by uncommitted changes, etc.), it directly displays the raw Git error message and does not use
--forceto override.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Install from the official repository:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add github:Rock-ql/dsh-git-branch
- Restart DSH Desktop after installation.
- For local development or debugging, you can install it using a local path:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add /Users/rockcoder/Documents/project/dsh-git-branch
*Note: For the Web profile, simply replace `desktop` with the corresponding profile name.*
Typical Usage¶
- Open DSH Desktop and go to any Git repository directory.
- Check the branch pill on the left side of the Composer and confirm the current status (such as the dirty dot).
- Click the pill and find the target branch in the pop-up list through keyboard navigation or search filtering.
- Press Enter to confirm the switch.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Applicable scenarios: Developers who need to quickly confirm and switch Git branches in a conversational interface.
- Notes:
- Outside a Git repository directory, the plugin will not render.
- The plugin does not register any Git tools for the model and will not automatically run fetch, pull, or push operations.
- The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
Conclusion¶
By integrating Git status and branch switching into the conversation bar, this plugin reduces the cognitive overhead of context switching. For more plugin details and source code, visit the plugin directory or the GitHub repository.
