Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. During use, in addition to model switching and conversational interaction, developers often need to see the current resource status and local call records at a glance. dsh-signal focuses on visual display and read-only status monitoring, and does not involve login logic or routing changes.
What It Is¶
dsh-signal is a standalone Web UI and observability plugin maintained by Ricardo-WJP. It adds water-surface refraction brand animations, real balance and remaining quota display, model work description translation, and local Token usage statistics to DSH.
Core Features¶
dsh-signal provides the following capabilities:
- Branding & Visuals: Provides dot-matrix water flow and blue refraction effects that respond to the pointer. Supports light and dark theme switching and reduced motion options. The appearance is inspired by Magic UI Border Beam and Aceternity Glowing Effect, implemented with native CSS.
- Resource Monitoring: Displays brand/subscription identity and trusted resource data. The length of the quota bar represents the remaining amount. Supports providers such as DeepSeek, OpenCode Go, OpenRouter, Moonshot/Kimi, and SiliconFlow. Codex quota requires use with Codex Connect.
- Work Descriptions: Translates tool categories into plain-language actions without displaying parameters.
- Local Statistics: Provides a Token calendar, filtering, weekly view, and cumulative statistics. It does not read chat content and does not infer costs from Tokens.
Installation & Enablement¶
Before using it, make sure your system has Node.js 22+ and DeepSeek Harness installed.
We recommend installing the current version 0.6.12 with npm:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-signal@0.6.12
If you need to install a prebuilt version from GitHub:
npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add github:Ricardo-WJP/dsh-signal#v0.6.12
When using other profiles, replace web with the corresponding profile name.
Data & Privacy¶
- Credential Security: Balance credentials are read by the DSH Host and are only sent to official HTTPS endpoints that are fixed or strictly allowlisted. The browser never receives raw credentials.
- Local Statistics: Usage statistics only read structured Token records from local sessions and do not upload statistical data.
- Refresh Mechanism: Foreground scheduling polls about once every 45 seconds and triggers a refresh when a page is expanded, a model is switched, or a task is completed. Background non-essential refreshes are paused. Request batching, throttling, and failure backoff may delay reads. Provider caching may still cause latency; this is not real-time push.
Development¶
The plugin includes regression tests for core logic and refresh scheduling. If you want to build it yourself:
npm ci
npm run build:client
npm run check
npm pack --dry-run
Use Cases¶
Suitable for developers who need intuitive visual feedback and local call statistics. Note: this is not a login plugin, does not modify model routing, and does not automatically switch models.
