Introduction¶
When you connect your own gateway in DSH, models often only contain a name. By default, DSH matches “gateway name + model id” against the catalog. Since custom gateways are not included in the catalog, these models are treated as “no capabilities” by default (context 256K, no reasoning level, no vision). In practice, the model names do exist in the catalog. This plugin performs a catalog lookup by model name and fills in context length, output limit, reasoning level, and vision capability.
Plugin Overview¶
- Name:
pgjh/dsh-model-metadata - Maintainer: pgjh
- Category: Model Inference
- License: MIT
Core Features¶
- Name-based lookup and completion: It uses the model name at the end of the id to perform lookup, supporting the official catalog, the pi-ai catalog, opencode, and models.dev.
- Non-destructive: It only fills in missing fields and does not override fields manually written by users.
- GUI controls: It provides UI controls for reasoning level and vision capability.
- Automatic updates: Catalog data is updated automatically.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Ensure the environment meets Node.js >= 22.
- Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-model-metadata
- Restart the DSH process.
Usage¶
- On the settings page, edit the gateway card and find the “Model Catalog” area under “Custom Settings”.
- Each model row will show “Reasoning Level” and “Vision” controls, along with a conclusion line (e.g.,
Auto-matched: anthropic · 200K / Output 64K · Reasoning level · Vision). - After adjusting the controls, click “Write” to persist the settings to the configuration file.
Catalog Data and Configuration¶
- Storage location: Catalog data is stored in
$DSH_HOME/models-dev-snapshot.json. - Manual refresh: You can manually refresh it with
node lib/refresh-snapshot.mjs. - Configuration control: You can control completion behavior with the environment variable
DSH_PI_AI_CATALOG_FALLBACK(e.g.,full,context,off).
Notes¶
- DSH Home must be configured.
- Updating the plugin will not overwrite downloaded catalog data.
