Introduction¶
The default typography of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is usually quite generic. The dsh-fonttune plugin gives developers fine-grained control over conversation, interface, and code areas, allowing the interface style and code reading experience to be independent of the default configuration.
Plugin Overview¶
Name: dsh-fonttune
Maintainer: LyaxZ
Purpose: A DeepSeek Harness (DSH) font plugin: conversation has full typography control, interface follows by default, and code independently supports ligatures and preset schemes.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides three independent typography control axes and supports preset scheme management.
-
Three typography control axes
- Conversation: Full control over font family, font size, line height, and font weight.
- Interface: Provides font and font weight control; by default it follows the conversation settings (can be disabled), and font size and line height are inherited from the conversation.
- Code: Has its own independent axis and supports ligatures and feature toggles.
-
Real-time tuning
- Floating tuning panel: A small dot in the corner of the conversation area can be expanded into a card, supporting real-time adjustment of font size, line height, and font weight. The panel size and position are remembered automatically.
- Font size offset: The font size offset range for both conversation and code is -3 to +6 px.
- Font weight offset: Supports relative offset counted in steps (for example, -1, 0, +1), preserving the existing hierarchy of font weights.
- Line height: Conversation line height uses a multiplier (100% to 160%), and code line height uses an additive offset (-4 to +8 px).
-
Font and rendering management
- Independent fallback lists: Interface/conversation/code each have an independent font fallback list, with drag-and-drop reordering supported.
- Text rendering quality: Provides three modes: follow system, sharp, and rounded.
- Reject synthesized styles: Synthesis is allowed by default. When disabled, it can prevent the browser from faking italics and bold styles for Chinese.
-
Presets and configuration
- Preset schemes: Supports saving the entire configuration as a JSON-format preset scheme, with renaming, import, and export supported.
- Editing modes: Provides a simple mode (Western/Chinese single selection) and an advanced mode (font stack editor).
Installation and Activation¶
Install the plugin through the DSH CLI:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-fonttune
After installation, DSH must be restarted before the changes appear.
Usage¶
- Open Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration → expand the “Font Enhancement” card.
- In simple mode, click the “Western/Chinese” cell to switch fonts; or use advanced mode to maintain the complete font stack.
- Drag the sliders to adjust font size, font weight, or line height; the changes take effect when released.
- Use the preset scheme dropdown to switch preset configurations.
- Turn off the “Interface follows conversation” toggle to make the interface font independent.
- Reset all fields to restore the default settings.
Compatibility and Limitations¶
- Host version: Requires DSH host version >= 0.1.7-alpha.1 and < 0.3.0-0.
- Configuration saving: Settings are saved in the profile’s
cordis.patch.yml(0.1.7+) orsettings.yaml.
Summary¶
dsh-fonttune addresses the limited default typography in DSH. By separating typography control for conversation, interface, and code, and combining it with the floating panel and preset schemes, it enables efficient and flexible visual customization.
