In the development of the DeepSeek Harness Web interface, the real-time state of the context window, the content retained after message compression, and tool-call traces are often difficult to observe intuitively. Existing approaches usually require troubleshooting through logs or external tools. The following introduces dsh-context-snapshot-bar, a DSH UI plugin for observing the context snapshots and context traces of the DeepSeek Harness Web runtime.
Plugin Positioning¶
This plugin is maintained by luoshuai990529 and licensed under MIT. It provides an entry above the input box and visualizes previously hidden Session events in the right sidebar, helping developers clarify the model’s current context composition.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides three observation capabilities:
- Runtime snapshot nodes: each runtime snapshot appears as an independent node in the message trail (typically amber), visible even when turns are collapsed. Each record has its own summary; historical records do not borrow the summary of the latest snapshot.
- Context snapshot: displays the rules, source, and time of the latest record, and distinguishes whether messages are currently “still in context,” “cleared,” or “replaced.”
- Conversation trace: view user messages, assistant tool calls, and results by turn, and compare them with the most recent compression summary and the messages it replaced.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Install the plugin
Install directly from npm without downloading source code or building manually. Install the published0.2.0version on npm:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-context-snapshot-bar@0.2.0
- Confirm configuration
Run the following command to check whether the output includes thedsh-context-snapshot-barconfiguration layer:
dsh --profile web --dump-config
- Restart the service
Restart the corresponding Web service to apply the configuration:
dsh --profile web
If the service is already running, stop the old process before starting it.
- Use the plugin
After entering a session, click the snapshot entry above the input box, and the right sidebar will open. Use tabs to switch between the two views.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Version dependency: The plugin depends on DSH version
0.1.5-rc.2(Host + Web), and Node.js must satisfy^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0. Compatibility with other versions has not been validated. - Permissions and behavior: The plugin reads committed Session events, does not write conversation logs, and does not modify DSH’s AgentLoop or compression strategy. It runs with the permissions of the current dsh process; review the source code and license before installation.
- Real-time scope and performance: Real-time scope means updates after events are committed, not token-by-token streaming display; the latest snapshot may also have left the current model context. Configuring model routing can generate additional requests that send the paragraph text held by a card.
- Version note:
0.2.0has been published to npm, while the current source version is0.3.1(including the runtime snapshot node feature). - Long conversations: when the limit is exceeded, the number of omitted items is annotated.
Summary¶
This tool addresses the pain point of invisible context state in DeepSeek Harness Web development by providing intuitive snapshot and trace views. To view the source code or submit issues, visit the project homepage.
