Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows developers to extend functionality through plug-ins. Most existing WeChat bots exist only as automatic reply tools. Thalamus is a DSH plug-in designed to turn a standalone WeChat account into an AI companion with personality, a life, and special treatment for you. This is a personal entertainment project, non-commercial, with the package name dsh-wechat-companion.
Core Positioning¶
The core design of Thalamus is not to “role-play” as a real person, but to be equipped with a set of “rules for living.” Through an independent mechanism set, it enables the WeChat account to have long-term memory, emotional fluctuations, proactive social behavior, and the ability to fulfill commitments.
Main Capabilities¶
Based on verified facts, this plug-in includes the following core features:
- Six-Dimensional Personality: A six-dimensional personality derived from the eight dimensions of MBTI determines speaking style, reaction intensity, and stress resistance.
- World Engine: Runs once every night, acting as the screenwriter of life. It generates private notes, the next day’s schedule, a mood baseline, and long-term private intentions.
- Long-Term Memory and Emotional Filter: Has bidirectional memory capability, able to remember you and also what she has said, with an emotional filter.
- Commitment Closed Loop: Promises she makes to you are actually fulfilled. When the deadline arrives, she will proactively reach out to apologize or complete the task.
- Proactive Behavior: Decides the frequency of proactively contacting you based on relationship closeness, including good morning and good night messages, daily sharing, and occasional reminders.
- Image Workshop and Moments Workshop: Supports custom persona images and publishing to Moments.
- Backend Console: Provides a complete web backend (default address
http://127.0.0.1:43121/console) for checking status, configuring, and debugging.
Installation and Activation¶
This plug-in depends on the DeepSeek Harness Desktop environment. The installation steps are as follows:
- Clone the code
git clone https://github.com/Koierrr/Thalamus.git
cd Thalamus
- Register the plug-in
Use the Electron runtime included with DSH to register it:
ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1 ~/.dsh/electron/electron.exe scripts/deploy.mjs --register
- Restart DSH Desktop
Configuration and Usage¶
After installation, basic configuration must be performed in the backend:
- Brain: In “Conversation Interface,” enter the BaseURL and API Key, then click “Test Connectivity” and “Run It For Real.”
- Mechanics: In “Carrier and Channel,” scan the QR code to bind your WeChat account (using a secondary account is recommended).
- World: In “World Engine,” configure an independent API. If not configured, she will have no “life script.”
- Nüwa: In the “Nüwa” module, design the persona or use the factory defaults.
The configuration file is located at ~/.dsh/settings.yaml. Changes take effect immediately. Note: quietHours in older configurations has been removed; the sleep window is now determined by her schedule for the day.
Architecture and Features¶
- Independent Model Calls: The conversation interface and world engine must use independent APIs. They cannot be shared, and fallback is not supported.
- Memory Engine: Includes a Python sidecar (
memory_service.py), using mem0 + faiss + bge-m3 for vector retrieval. It can also fall back to local JSON. - Port Usage: Main service 43121, memory engine 43122, wxauto bridge 43123 (disabled by default).
- Slash Commands: Send commands starting with
/in WeChat to perform backend-level operations. - No Black Box Principle: All features must be reflected in backend settings or descriptions; otherwise, they are considered unimplemented.
Notes¶
- Personal Entertainment, Non-Commercial: This plug-in is for personal entertainment only.
- Independent API: An independent model interface must be configured. It cannot be shared with the conversation interface.
- Secondary Account Recommended: Strongly recommend binding a separate secondary account to reduce risk.
- Security and Compliance: Please check the source code and license (MIT) before use.
