In daily use of DSH (DeepSeek Harness), it is often necessary to quickly launch locally installed Windows applications from the host environment. To solve this problem, the dsh-applauncher plugin is introduced below.

This is a client plugin maintained by developer jinwendijv. Its core function is to automatically scan applications installed on the local machine and provide a launch entry similar to the Windows Start menu above the “Settings” icon in the DSH sidebar.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:

  • Automatic scanning and recognition: It uses PowerShell to scan the Start menu, uninstall list, and App Paths registry to automatically recognize local applications. When displaying, it prioritizes Chinese names.
  • Icon extraction: It extracts the real icon from an application’s exe file. If an icon cannot be extracted, it uses the first character of the application name as a fallback.
  • Shortcut management: It provides a grid view for added shortcuts, supporting search, add, and remove operations. Added applications are marked with a green checkmark.
  • Secure execution: The launch action runs in the DSH host process; the browser side does not access any command or path. Write operations require POST and same-origin, to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.

Installation and Activation

Installing this plugin requires the following system dependencies: a Windows system (with PowerShell 5.1) and DSH Desktop.

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile <profile> add link:<本目录绝对路径>

After installation, fully quit and restart DSH Desktop.

Usage Steps

  1. Open the panel: After opening DSH, an “Application” button appears above the “Settings” icon at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Scan applications: Click the “Application” button, then click “Scan local applications” in the pop-up panel.
  3. Add shortcuts: In the “Installed local applications” list, click the “+” icon to add frequently used applications as shortcuts (added applications show a green checkmark on the right).
  4. Launch and remove: In the “Added shortcuts” area, click an icon to launch the application; when hovering the mouse over an icon, a “×” appears in the top-right corner; click it to remove the shortcut.

Use Cases and Notes

This plugin is suitable for users who need to quickly access local Windows applications within the DSH interface.

Notes:

  • The shortcut list is saved only in the local ~/.dsh/dsh-applauncher/config directory.
  • When the plugin launches an application, it runs through the Windows Shell (explorer) with normal user privileges and does not inherit DSH’s administrator privileges.
  • Dependencies include the system-provided PowerShell 5.1 and DSH Desktop.
