Introduction¶
The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface provides basic session and file views by default. For developers who frequently manage temporary drafts and switch working directories, the native button layout and list presentation may not be efficient enough. The dsh-plugin-pi-ui plugin aims to provide a more compact session management and file browsing experience by restructuring the sidebar.
Plugin Introduction¶
This is a sidebar enhancement component inspired by pi-web and maintained by ice-ai-lab. It follows the theme through --dsw-* design tokens and addresses the following: it reshapes the left sidebar into a logically blocked structure, displays temporary sessions at the top, shows a session list for a specific working directory through a selector below, provides a draft editor that takes effect only after sending, and takes over the Files tab in the right column.
Core Features¶
- Sidebar restructuring: Divides the left sidebar into a temporary sessions area, a working directory selector, and a session list area.
- Temporary session management: Displays the five most recent temporary sessions at the top. Users can click
+to create a draft or click🗑to clean up unused directories. - Working directory and session binding: Select a working directory from the dropdown menu; the session list below shows only sessions under that directory.
- Draft mechanism: All “new” actions (clicking
+) only open the draft editor and do not create any file or session until a message is sent. - Right-side file explorer: Displays a compact file browser where the Files tab is located in the right column.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install the plugin with the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-pi-ui
After installation, you must restart dsh web for it to take effect. Because the browser-side code is assembled at startup, newly added client-side plugins are not displayed immediately on an already running server; you need to refresh the page.
Typical Usage¶
- Create a temporary session: Click the
+button at the top of the left sidebar, enter content, and send it. The corresponding temporary directory will be created only at this point. - Clean up temporary directories: Click the
🗑button at the top to remove temporary directories that are no longer in use. - Switch working directory: Click the dropdown menu between the “Workspaces” row and the
+button to select the target directory. The session list below will show only items under that directory. - Manage the file explorer: Go to “General” in Settings to enable or disable the file explorer feature in the right column.
Notes¶
The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. Settings inside the plugin (such as the file explorer toggle and working directory switcher) are in-memory and will be reset after refreshing the page. The directories corresponding to temporary sessions remain on disk; if they are no longer needed, you can manually delete the <DSH_HOME>/scratch/ directory.
