The default sidebar of the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI includes global panels (such as Pull requests, Scheduled, and Plugins) and a new-session button. For developers accustomed to a Codex-style interface or seeking a minimalist experience, these elements may feel redundant.
dsh-plugin-codex-ui is a Web GUI sidebar skin plugin. It replaces the default navigation area with two collapsible sections—Projects and Recents—and simplifies creating a new session into a “New Conversation” row that can be started without selecting a project first. It also hides global panel rows and adjusts the sidebar padding.
Core Features¶
- Brand name replacement: Replaces the brand name at the top of the sidebar with “DeepSeek Harness”.
- Sidebar restructuring: Replaces the original navigation area with Projects and Recents browsing sections.
- Global panel hiding: Hides global panel rows such as Pull requests, Scheduled, and Plugins.
- New-session optimization: Hides the default new-session button and replaces it with a “New Conversation” row. Clicking this row directly creates a session; the system automatically assigns a working directory, eliminating the need to preselect a project.
- Layout adjustment: Changes the sidebar inline padding (
--dsh-sidebar-inline-padding) from 12px to 10px. - Interaction optimization: Clicking a project row collapses or expands the chat history for that project; hovering over a recent conversation reveals archive actions.
Installation and Enablement¶
This plugin depends on the web profile of DeepSeek Harness. The environment requires Node.js 20 or later, and pnpm must be available in PATH.
- Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:ice-ai-lab/dsh-plugin-codex-ui
- After installation, you must restart the
dsh webprocess to load the client components. Simply refreshing the page will not take effect.
Typical Usage¶
Start a Session Without a Project¶
After installation and restart, a “New Conversation” row appears in the sidebar. Clicking this row creates a session. The system automatically assigns a brand-new working directory and registers it as a Workspace. This session is classified as a “no-project” session and is automatically grouped under the Recents section.
Manage Projects¶
The Projects section at the bottom of the sidebar lists registered working directories. Clicking a project row collapses or expands the chat list for that project. Click the “+” button on a project row to create a new chat within that project.
Manage Recent Conversations¶
The Recents section displays only chat history belonging to no-project sessions. Hover over a recent conversation row and click the trash-can icon that appears on the right to archive that session.
Notes¶
- Environment dependencies: Before installation, ensure that the Node.js version is >= 20 and that
pnpmis configured in the system. - Irreversible archiving: Archiving a recent conversation is irreversible. After archiving, the chat history disappears from the list, but the log files remain on disk.
- Directory location: The working directories for no-project and recent conversations are located at
$DSH_HOME/codex-workspaces/(default~/.dsh/codex-workspaces/).
Summary¶
dsh-plugin-codex-ui is suitable for users who want to adjust the DeepSeek Harness Web interface to a Codex style and simplify the project management workflow. By removing the default global panel rows and simplifying the new-session creation flow, it provides a sidebar view more focused on chat history and project management.
