During the web development process for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), repeatedly typing similar prompts can consume a lot of time. dsh-prompt-history-plugin aims to solve this pain point by providing a shell-style interaction so that developers can quickly refill previously submitted Prompts using the up and down arrow keys directly in the input box, without manual copy-pasting.
This is a plugin that runs on the DSH client and is maintained by hotpot-labs. It does not render any visible interface; instead, it implements its functionality solely by extending the behavior of the input box.
Installation¶
Install it in the Web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:hotpot-labs/dsh-prompt-history-plugin
Core Features¶
- Shell-style navigation: Supports browsing history using the ↑ key (view older entries) and ↓ key (view newer entries), and includes a readline-style draft-stashing mechanism to prevent losing unsent drafts when switching between history entries.
- Automatic logging: Every user prompt accepted and displayed by the host is logged, including slash commands that start with
/. - Local persistence: History is stored in the browser’s
localStorage(key:dsh-prompt-history:v1), with a maximum of 100 entries. Duplicates are automatically removed, and the most recently used entry is prioritized. - Zero conflicts: Navigation is triggered only when the input box is empty or the cursor is at the beginning, so it does not interfere with IME input or default text editing behavior.
- No UI interference: The plugin does not render any visible elements; it only adds behavior logic.
Usage¶
- Open any conversation in dsh web.
- Make sure the input box is empty, or that the cursor is at the very beginning of the input box.
- Press ↑ to fill in the most recently submitted prompt. Continue pressing ↑ to step further back, or ↓ to step forward.
- When there is text in the input box, the first press of ↑ only moves the cursor to the beginning of the line (default behavior). Press ↑ again to enter history navigation mode; any unsent draft will be stashed at this point.
- While browsing history, press ↓ beyond the newest entry to restore the stashed draft (or clear the input box) and exit navigation mode.
- While navigating, pressing any printable character, Enter, Backspace, or ESC will exit navigation mode.
Notes¶
- The plugin runs with the privileges of the current DSH process; review the source code and license before installing it.
- History is stored in the local browser; clearing site data will clear the history.
- When using a Chinese Input Method Editor (IME), the plugin does not interfere with the input process.
Ecosystem and Source¶
The DSH plugin ecosystem emphasizes modularity and pluggability. This plugin can be viewed in the community catalog, and its source code is hosted on GitHub.
