Introduction¶
The Web GUI of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) defaults to an English interface. For developers accustomed to Brazilian Portuguese, reading the English interface can increase cognitive load. DSH adopts a plugin-based architecture, allowing functionality to be extended through third-party plugins. grstein/dsh-locale-ptbr is one such plugin. It provides a Brazilian Portuguese language pack for the DSH Web GUI, enabling interface localization without modifying the Harness source code.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is an open-source plugin maintained by the user grstein (MIT license), aiming to cover specific text in the DSH Web interface.
Core Features¶
- Adds a Brazilian Portuguese language pack.
- Translates the Web GUI interface in real time.
- Covers 33 namespaces and 1,029 keys, including conversations, trajectories, tool cards, workspaces, configuration, approvals, tasks, subagents, and commands.
- Supports configuration profiles (used via the
--profile weboption or thedsh webcommand). - Automatically falls back to English for untranslated keys.
- Includes consistency checks via
npm test.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the dsh plugin command to install it. This command forwards operations to pnpm under the profile directory, and therefore supports github:, local paths, or an internal registry.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:grstein/dsh-locale-ptbr
After installation, go to Configuration → General → Language in the GUI and select Português (Brasil).
Typical Usage¶
After installation, you can enable or manage it in the following ways:
# 启用插件后,检查配置层是否包含该插件
dsh --profile web --dump-config
# 启动 Web 服务
dsh web
To remove it:
dsh plugin --profile web remove @grstein/dsh-locale-ptbr
Use Cases and Limitations¶
Use Cases: Primarily for DSH users who prefer Brazilian Portuguese.
Limitations:
1. Does not modify Harness code: The plugin implements translation only by runtime injection and does not modify DSH source code.
2. Translation scope: Only GUI product copy is translated. Model output, terminal output, documentation, onboarding screens, or raw text in the registry are not translated.
3. Environment dependencies: Building and testing depend on a Node.js environment.
4. Fallback mechanism: Untranslated keys automatically display in English and do not display the original key names.
Maintenance and Synchronization¶
The plugin maintains dicts/<ns>.json as the translation source. Developers can use npm run build to regenerate client code and npm test to verify key-value consistency.
As official Harness versions are updated, new keys may be introduced or existing keys may be changed. The plugin provides the tools/sync.mjs script, used to compare official Harness code and generate an update report. To keep up with versions, you can apply updates with the --apply argument.
Ecosystem Background¶
The philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is that “everything is a plugin.” This plugin is not officially maintained; it is part of the community ecosystem. For related plugin information, refer to SkillHub.
