Introduction

When using the Web mode of DeepSeek Harness, the sidebar is the main workspace. The default session list mixes active sessions, blank sessions, and archived sessions, requiring frequent scrolling to find specific conversations or manage history. dsh-session-control is designed to solve this problem by replacing the sidebar body to provide structured session management.

Plugin Positioning

This is a client-side plugin maintained by the developer GooDAnDReaDY. It takes over the part of the sidebar that originally displays workspaces and the session list, providing capabilities such as pinning, searching, archiving, and noise reduction, without changing other sidebar UI components (such as the brand area, new-session button, or settings entry).

Installation and Activation

Install the plugin using the DSH CLI:

dsh plugin --profile web add @goodandready/dsh-session-control

After installation, restart the Web Profile of DeepSeek Harness to activate the plugin.

Core Features

  1. Pinned Sessions
Pin important conversations to the top of the sidebar, forming a globally visible pinned area. The configuration is persisted and remains available after refreshing the page or switching devices.

  2. Contextual Search
When searching conversation content, it not only returns titles but also displays previews of matching fragments, helping you quickly assess session relevance.

  3. Archiving by Period
Sessions are automatically grouped by time into “Today”, “This Week”, “This Month”, and “Earlier”. Collapsing periods can improve performance, especially when there are many historical sessions.

  4. Read-Only Archive Viewer
Archived sessions cannot be used directly for chat. The plugin provides a read-only transcript viewer modal for inspecting past conversation logs, tool calls, and user prompts.

  5. Automatic Noise Reduction
Automatically hides blank sessions with no messages (such as sessions created by schedulers or gateways), keeping the sidebar tidy. Currently active sessions are not hidden even if they are empty.

  6. Reversible Session Hiding
Supports one-click hiding of active sessions. Unlike archiving, this hiding is reversible and can be restored for viewing at any time.

  7. Multi-Selection and Batch Operations
Using checkboxes and Shift+Click range selection, you can batch hide, unhide, or pin multiple sessions.

  8. In-Place Renaming
No modal is required: double-click a session title or press F2 to rename it inline.

  9. Tag System
Add tags to sessions for easy filtering by tag. The tag system is independent of the folder structure, mitigating the limitation that session ownership is determined by the working directory.

Typical Usage

  • Quick Jump: Press Alt + K to quickly open the jump modal and filter active and archived sessions.
  • Rename: Double-click a session title or press F2 to edit it in place.

Notes

  • Architectural Change: This plugin replaces the sidebar body (sidebar.workspaces slot), as required by the architectural design.
  • Environment Dependencies: Requires a Node.js 20+ environment, and @deepseek-ai/cordis ^4.0.2 must be installed.
  • Session Ownership: Session ownership is determined by its working directory; the plugin cannot move sessions across folders.

Ecosystem Context

DeepSeek Harness follows the “everything is a plugin” philosophy. This plugin is a community plugin and has no affiliation with official DeepSeek or Huanfang.
