Introduction

Managing concurrent tasks for multiple autonomous agents in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) environment can easily lead to context drift, lost PR handoffs, and untracked branch lifecycles. Without a visual task board, users must manually switch between multiple chat windows and manually verify issue status on the remote version control system (VCS).

goodandready/dsh-kanban provides an embedded visual Kanban board for DSH. It maps each task to a dedicated agent session. Dragging cards between columns triggers specific lifecycle instructions and maintains bidirectional status synchronization with Gitea, Forgejo, and GitHub.

Core Features

1. Interactive Visual Kanban Board

The board is embedded in the DSH Web UI and supports drag-and-drop operations.

Workflow Columns
Two modes are supported:
* Project board mode: Backlog ➔ In Progress ➔ Review ➔ Deploy ➔ Cleanup ➔ Done.
* Simple board mode: Backlog ➔ In Progress ➔ Review ➔ Done.

Card Information
Cards display the title, issue number, assigned LLM model, target worktree, branch name, PR review status, and uncommitted diff markers.
Cards support editing labels, priority, and due dates. Overdue due dates are highlighted. Cards also include author and assignee information and support grouping by assignee.

2. Task-to-Agent Session Scheduler

Unlike a passive board, dsh-kanban actively drives agents. Moving a card to a different column triggers the corresponding instruction:

Move to Column Triggered Action Instruction Sent to Agent
Backlog Stop current turn agent.cancel({ kind: 'user' })
In Progress Schedule turn Start or continue implementing the task
Review Schedule turn Prepare a PR for human code review
Deploy Schedule turn Merge the PR and deploy (requires explicit user approval)
Cleanup Schedule turn Clean up branches, worktrees, and record a summary
Done Human/VCS only Close the issue or close after user confirmation

3. 2-Way VCS Synchronization

The plugin provides continuous bidirectional synchronization with Gitea, Forgejo, and GitHub.

  • Synchronization mechanism: Supports polling and Webhook reception.
  • Webhook endpoint: /dsh-kanban/webhook.
  • Synchronized content: Issue descriptions, comments, PR status, labels, and closed status.
  • Conflict handling: Timestamp-based merge logic ensures that manual edits and board movements do not overwrite each other.

4. Agent Tools

The plugin provides dedicated tools for agents to manipulate the board:

  • board_move: Agents use this tool to report progress and move cards to the next stage. Note: this tool cannot move cards to the Done column.
  • board_plan: Used to save a structured step-by-step implementation plan to a task card.

Installation and Dependencies

Installation Method
The official installation command was not found in the current source material. Please obtain the source code or consult the installation guide at:

https://github.com/GooDAnDReaDY/dsh-kanban

Runtime Requirements
* Node.js version: 20 or later.
* Dependencies: Specific peer dependencies must be installed (including core DSH modules such as @deepseek-ai/cordis, @deepseek-ai/dsh-settings, @deepseek-ai/schemastery, and @deepseek-ai/dsh-agent).

Typical Usage

  1. Create a task: Creating a task on the board automatically generates the corresponding issue in the linked Gitea/Forgejo/GitHub repository.
  2. Schedule deployment: Drag a card to the Deploy column to trigger the PR merge and deployment process.
  3. Webhook synchronization: Configure the VCS Webhook to point to /dsh-kanban/webhook to receive external events and synchronize status.
  4. Agent operations: Agents can use the board_move tool to report progress or the board_plan tool to record a plan.

Notes

  • Done column restriction: Cards cannot automatically transition to the Done column; they must be triggered by a manual user action or VCS (such as closing an issue).
  • Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installation, please review the source code and license (MIT).
  • Version dependencies: Detailed version constraints in package.json were truncated in the current capture. Please ensure that the installed dependency versions are compatible with your DSH environment.

Summary

dsh-kanban integrates task management, agent scheduling, and version control into a unified visual interface, reducing context-switching costs and ensuring traceability and automation of the development workflow.
